Full job description

Hello! We are developing a 2D turn-based tactics game featuring strategic, grid-based combat and story-driven narrative sequences. Inspired by Indian history/mythology and classic tactical RPGs, the game combines expressive lo-fi animations in gameplay with richly detailed portraits and backgrounds for storytelling. We are looking for a talented 2D Artist & Animator to create high-quality artwork and animations that define the visual identity of the project.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design and create concept art of characters and environments.
  • Create 2D sprite sheet animations for: character actions and visual effects
  • Create character portraits and backgrounds for narrative sections.
  • Design tilesets for gameplay environments.
  • Create UI elements for various menu screens.
  • Work closely with the game designer to establish and maintain a cohesive visual style.
  • Prepare assets for implementation in Unity, including properly organized sprite sheets and layered source files.
  • Iterate on artwork based on gameplay requirements and feedback.
  • Ensure assets are optimized for performance without sacrificing visual quality.

Required Skills

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating 2D illustration and animation.
  • Excellent understanding of: Composition, Colour theory, Lighting, Perspective, Anatomy, Visual storytelling,
  • Experience creating 2D sprite sheet animations.
  • Experience with game asset production pipelines.
  • Proficiency in illustration and animation software such as Photoshop.
  • Ability to maintain consistent art direction across large numbers of assets.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Ideal Candidate

You are someone who enjoys creating memorable worlds through expressive 2D art and animation. You understand how visual design supports tactical gameplay and narrative immersion, and you can take concepts from sketch to polished game-ready assets. You are comfortable working collaboratively, receiving feedback, and helping shape the artistic direction of a long-term game project.
