About Us:
Nisarg Agripreneurship Foundation is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to driving sustainable development in education, rural livelihood, and environmental conservation. Our three flagship programs—Abhishala, SYLIFE, and Pragati through Prakriti—are at the forefront of transforming communities and empowering individuals.
We are returning to our core forte in agriculture and horticulture with a clear, tech-driven vision. We are building a robust, modern network of horticulture produce by establishing, nurturing, and scaling Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs).
Our strategic roadmap moves from Land Acquisition & Infrastructure (establishing demo plots and cold storage ecosystems) to Corporate & Farmer Collaboration, and finally, to Tech & Knowledge Transfer. We bridge the gap between corporate resources, modern technology, and grassroots farming.
Role Description:
The Agriculture Consultant will work on-site in Bhopal in a full-time capacity, providing expert guidance to farmers, community groups, and project teams on sustainable agriculture practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing current farming methods, recommending improvements in agronomy and crop management, and supporting the implementation of sustainable and climate-resilient techniques.
The consultant will collaborate with local stakeholders on rural development initiatives, conduct field visits and training sessions, and prepare reports and documentation on project progress. The role also involves coordinating with internal teams to design and refine agriculture-based interventions, monitoring outcomes, and sharing best practices that align with the foundation’s community development goals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Farmer Mobilisation & FPO/FPC Building: Connect, engage, and build trust with local farmers. Lead the efforts to aggregate individual farmers into structured, profitable FPOs and FPCs.
- On-Field Tech & Knowledge Transfer: Act as the primary knowledge bridge. Introduce, demonstrate, and train farmers on modern agri-tech and practices, including:
- Sustainable Irrigation: Implementation of solar water pumps.
- Smart Farming: Utilising IoT devices for data-driven cultivation and farm management.
- Post-Harvest Management: Managing and optimising the cold storage room/cold unit network.
- Demo Plot Management: Coordinate directly with farmers on our specialised demonstration plots to showcase the commercial viability of modern horticulture techniques.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate between corporate agri-partners, specialised infrastructure agencies, and grassroots farming communities to ensure smooth operations.
- Data & Reporting: Monitor crop health, tech adoption rates, and FPO milestones. Maintain accurate records to help scale the project across phases.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Agriculture and Agronomy, with the ability to apply best practices in diverse field conditions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, or a closely related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in rural development, FPO/FPC formation, agricultural consulting, or field-level project implementation.
- Understanding of Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development, with a focus on community-centered approaches.
- Ability to conduct field assessments, collect and interpret agricultural data, and prepare concise technical reports.
- Comfort and familiarity with modern agri-tech (IoT devices, solar irrigation systems, and post-harvest cold chain logistics).
- Strong interpersonal, community mobilisation, and communication skills. Ability to speak the local language fluently is highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively to rural areas and work directly on demonstration plots.
How to Apply: If you are passionate about empowering farmers and revolutionising the horticulture supply chain with technology, we want to hear from you.
Interested candidates are requested to send their updated CV to gurmann@nisarg.org.in. The subject of the email should be "Application for Agri-Associate/Consultant."
Nisarg Foundation is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
