Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified, enthusiastic, and experienced Biology Teacher to teach students in Grades 11 and 12 under the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Cambridge IGCSE/AS & A Level Curriculum.

The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in biological sciences, a passion for scientific inquiry, and the ability to inspire students through engaging instruction, laboratory investigations, and research-based learning experiences. The teacher will foster critical thinking, scientific literacy, and academic excellence in alignment with international curriculum standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic & Teaching Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Biology instruction aligned with IB and Cambridge curriculum frameworks.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons using modern teaching methodologies.
• Teach core Biology topics, including:
• Cell Biology
• Molecular Biology
• Genetics
• Ecology
• Evolution and Biodiversity
• Human Physiology
• Plant Biology
• Reproduction
• Biotechnology
• Microbiology
• Environmental Systems
• Sustainable Development
• Promote inquiry-based and student-centered learning.
• Integrate practical experiments, laboratory investigations, and real-world biological applications into teaching.
• Encourage scientific curiosity, observation, analysis, and problem-solving skills.

IB & IGCSE Curriculum ResponsibilitiesIB Diploma Programme (DP)

• Teach IB Biology at Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL).
• Guide students through Internal Assessments (IA), laboratory investigations, and research-based projects.
• Support students in developing scientific writing and data analysis skills.
• Prepare students for external assessments and examinations.

Cambridge IGCSE / AS & A Level

• Deliver Biology lessons according to Cambridge syllabus requirements.
• Prepare students for practical and theoretical examinations.
• Conduct revision programs, laboratory sessions, and mock examinations.
• Monitor student achievement and implement intervention strategies where needed.

Laboratory Management & Safety

• Plan and supervise laboratory experiments and scientific investigations.
• Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety standards and procedures.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, materials, and inventory records.
• Promote safe laboratory practices among students.
• Coordinate laboratory resources to support curriculum delivery.

Assessment & Evaluation

• Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
• Evaluate laboratory reports, assignments, projects, presentations, and examinations.
• Provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
• Track student progress and develop support plans where necessary.
• Maintain accurate academic records and progress reports.

Student Development & Mentorship

• Inspire students to pursue excellence in Biology and related sciences.
• Mentor students interested in careers in medicine, biotechnology, environmental science, research, and life sciences.
• Encourage participation in science fairs, Olympiads, STEM competitions, and research projects.
• Guide students in university preparation and academic pathway planning.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress.

Curriculum Development

• Participate in curriculum planning, review, and improvement initiatives.
• Develop innovative instructional resources and laboratory activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary STEM learning.
• Stay current with advances in biological sciences and educational best practices.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional academic development.

School & Professional Responsibilities

• Attend faculty meetings, workshops, training sessions, and academic planning activities.
• Participate in school events, science exhibitions, and extracurricular programs.
• Uphold all school policies, safeguarding requirements, and professional standards.

QualificationsEssential Requirements

• Master's Degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Genetics, or a related field.
• Bachelor's Degree with a recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, Teaching License, or equivalent).
• Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience at the secondary or higher secondary level.
• Experience teaching IB Diploma Programme and/or Cambridge IGCSE/AS & A Level Biology.
• Strong laboratory and practical teaching experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• IB-certified training in Biology.
• Experience teaching in international schools.
• Cambridge International assessment experience.
• Experience with digital learning platforms and virtual laboratories.
• Research or scientific publication experience is an advantage.
