They ensure healthcare facilities get safe, cost-effective technology from compliant vendors. [1, 2]Core Duties
- Technical Evaluation: Write device specifications, check compliance, and test-run hospital hardware like MRI scanners or patient monitors.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate pricing, warranties, and service contracts (AMC/CMC) with medical device manufacturers.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure purchases follow local health standards, safety laws, and government portals like GeM.
- Budgeting & Planning: Forecast equipment needs and calculate return on investment (ROI) for capital upgrades.
Required Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of clinical utility, device safety, and maintenance.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation skills, tender preparation, and financial baseline tracking.
