Job Description – Medical Lab Technician, Jothydev's Diabetes Hospital and Research Centre.

Location: Kakkanad

Department: Clinical Laboratory / Diabetology Services

Job Summary

The Medical Lab Technician will support diagnostic and research activities related to diabetes and associated metabolic disorders. The role involves performing laboratory investigations, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring quality standards, and assisting doctors and healthcare professionals with accurate and timely reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect blood, urine, and other patient samples following standard safety protocols.
• Perform routine laboratory tests related to:
• Blood glucose
• HbA1c
• Lipid profile
• Kidney and liver function tests
• Hormonal and biochemical investigations
• Operate and maintain automated laboratory analyzers and diagnostic equipment.
• Prepare samples for testing and maintain proper labeling and documentation.
• Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of laboratory reports.
• Follow infection control, sterilization, and biomedical waste disposal protocols.
• Maintain laboratory inventory, reagents, and consumables.
• Assist doctors and research teams in diabetes-related clinical studies and investigations.
• Maintain NABL/ISO quality standards and documentation procedures.
• Coordinate with nurses, diabetologists, and other healthcare staff for patient care.

Required Qualifications

• DMLT / BMLT / Medical Laboratory Technology certification or degree.
• Valid registration/certification as per Kerala/state regulations (preferred).
• Experience in hospital or diagnostic laboratory settings preferred.
• Knowledge of biochemistry, hematology, and diabetes-related investigations.
• Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with laboratory software systems.

Preferred Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or diabetes specialty hospital.
• Experience with automated analyzers and quality control procedures.
