General Purpose of the Position:

The MI Analyst identifies and develops high-value industrial market opportunities for IGS. The role focuses on researching plants, process units, and operating sites that match the target audience, determining turnaround and shutdown dates, and maintaining accurate, structured data in Salesforce. The analyst turns fragmented market and plant information into a reliable pipeline of actionable targets for business development and product teams.

This person will act as the central owner of CRM Market Intelligence. They will ensure proper market coverage and help provide timely market information for marketing, business development, product management, and technical teams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and identify target industrial accounts
Identify plants, sites, and process units in refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, gas processing, and related sectors that fit the company’s target market.
Build and maintain a list of priority accounts, facilities, and unit-level opportunities based on strategic fit, market relevance, and commercial potential.
Track ownership, operating company, site location, major unit types, and business relevance.


Track turnarounds and market timing

  • Research planned turnarounds, shutdowns, maintenance windows, and capital or reliability events that create sales opportunities.
  • Maintain a forward-looking calendar of key turnaround dates and related market triggers.
    Validate timing through public sources, industry databases, customer inputs, and internal knowledge.


Maintain Salesforce data quality

  • Keep Salesforce current, complete, and structured for target accounts, contacts, plants, units, opportunities, and timing data.
  • Ensure records follow agreed naming conventions, taxonomy, and data standards.
    Review and correct incomplete, outdated, or inconsistent entries so the pipeline remains decision-useful.


Use LLM tools to accelerate market intelligence

  • Use LLM-based tools extensively to speed up account research, summarize plant and unit data, extract insights from unstructured sources, and support market mapping.
  • Convert scattered information from websites, reports, notes, and internal documents into structured business intelligence.
  • Apply sound judgment to verify outputs and maintain data accuracy.


Support market segmentation and targeting

  • Classify target sites by industry, geography, process type, unit type, turnaround timing, and strategic fit.
  • Help define which plants and units represent the strongest target audience for specific products or services.
  • Highlight patterns in demand, market concentration, and timing.


Generate actionable insights for commercial teams

  • Prepare clear summaries of target accounts, upcoming turnarounds, whitespace opportunities, and priority segments.
  • Provide lists, dashboards, and reports that help business development focus on the right plants at the right time.
  • Surface gaps, trends, and new opportunities for product and commercial leadership.


Key Deliverables

  • A clean and current Salesforce database for target accounts, plants, units, and opportunities
  • A maintained list of priority industrial sites and target units
  • A tracked calendar of turnaround and shutdown dates
  • Structured market segmentation by plant, unit, industry, and timing
  • Regular reports on target account coverage, upcoming events, and pipeline opportunities
  • LLM-supported research outputs converted into validated Salesforce data and market insight

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate combines technical education with strong research discipline, data accuracy, and commercial awareness. This person is comfortable working with industrial market data, plant-level research, Salesforce, and LLM-driven workflows.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM field Strong research and analytical skills Extensive hands-on use of LLM tools for research, synthesis, and data structuring Working knowledge of Salesforce High attention to detail and discipline in data quality Ability to organize large volumes of information into clear, structured outputs Strong written communication skills

  • Frequent contact with technicians and all levels of management within the company
  • Frequent contact with client personnel, including engineers and operations managers

Effort/Working Conditions:

  • General industrial office environment
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Requires some extended hours to support projects as needed
  • This role will work closely with: Business Development and Business Unit Leaders, Project Management and Technical team and Product Management
  • Project execution teams where lessons learned need to be captured


Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Extensive hands-on use of LLM tools for research, synthesis, and data structuring
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce
  • High attention to detail and discipline in data quality
  • Ability to organize large volumes of information into clear, structured outputs
  • Strong written communication skills

Preferred Background

  • Engineering, materials, mechanical, chemical, industrial, or related technical field
  • Experience in industrial markets such as refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, energy, or manufacturing
  • Experience with market intelligence, business research, product support, or commercial operations
  • Familiarity with plant operations, maintenance cycles, or turnaround planning
