Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Chemistry

Work Location: Kozhikode

Position Overview

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Chemistry will be responsible for developing high-quality academic content and learning resources in the field of Chemistry. The role requires strong subject expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to create student-friendly educational materials that simplify complex chemical concepts.

The candidate will actively contribute to content creation, presentation development, assessment design, and curriculum support. The ideal candidate should possess excellent conceptual clarity, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with academic, design, and production teams to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Academic Content Development

Develop detailed study materials, notes, and concept explanations in Chemistry.

Create structured academic content aligned with curriculum requirements and learning objectives.

Prepare chapter-wise content with accurate scientific terminology, chemical equations, and conceptual clarity.

Ensure all content is updated according to syllabus revisions and academic standards.

Simplify complex chemical concepts into easy-to-understand learning material for students.

2. Presentation & Slide Preparation

Design engaging and visually effective presentation slides for classroom and digital learning.

Prepare topic-wise PPTs incorporating chemical structures, reaction mechanisms, diagrams, flowcharts, illustrations, and concept summaries.

Ensure presentations are interactive, student-centric, and academically accurate.

Coordinate with graphic designers and multimedia teams for enhanced visual content delivery.

Maintain consistency in presentation format, branding, and academic quality.

3. Question Paper & Assessment Preparation

Prepare question papers, assignments, quizzes, worksheets, and practice tests.

Design objective and descriptive questions with varying difficulty levels.

Develop answer keys, explanations, and marking schemes for assessments.

Ensure proper blueprint distribution and topic-wise weightage in question papers.

Create application-based and concept-oriented questions to improve analytical thinking.

Review assessment quality to maintain academic standards and error-free delivery.

4. Quality Assurance & Content Review

Proofread and verify content for factual accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency.

Review and improve existing study materials based on academic feedback.

Ensure plagiarism-free and original content creation.

Maintain high standards of academic integrity and content quality.

Conduct regular revisions and updates to improve content effectiveness.

5. Coordination & Academic Support

Collaborate with faculty members, academic coordinators, and production teams.

Support curriculum planning and content strategy initiatives.

Participate in academic discussions, brainstorming sessions, and review meetings.

Assist in developing innovative teaching methodologies and learning resources.

Provide subject expertise for internal academic projects and initiatives.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry and related chemical sciences.

Excellent academic writing and content development skills.

Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Word.

Ability to prepare chemical diagrams, charts, reaction schemes, and scientific illustrations.

Understanding of assessment design and evaluation methodologies.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Team collaboration and coordination abilities.

Educational Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field.

Prior experience in academic content development is preferred.

Experience

1–5 years of experience in academic content creation, teaching, or assessment preparation.

Experience in educational institutions, ed-tech platforms, or publishing industries will be an added advantage.
