Full job description

1. Execution and supervision

  • Supervise all civil work (excavation, footing, RCC, brickwork, plastering, flooring, finishing)
  • Ensure work follows approved drawings, specifications, and the schedule
  • Plan daily manpower and allocate work to contractors and labour
  • Check line, level, and alignment before each stage is cast or closed

2. Drawings and technical review

  • Read and interpret architectural, structural, and service drawings
  • Identify clashes or discrepancies and raise them before execution
  • Maintain updated drawing sets on site and make sure only the latest revision is used

3. Quality and safety

  • Inspect reinforcement, shuttering, and concrete pours before casting
  • Arrange cube sampling and testing, and maintain test records
  • Check incoming materials (cement, steel, sand, aggregate, bricks) for quality and quantity
  • Enforce site safety: PPE, scaffolding, excavation safety, and housekeeping

4. Measurement and billing

  • Take joint measurements with contractors and keep measurement books
  • Verify and recommend contractor RA bills with proper back-up
  • Prepare quantity estimates and bar bending schedules checks
  • Reconcile material consumption (cement, steel) against work done and flag wastage

5. Planning and reporting

  • Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and material requirement lists
  • Submit a daily progress report (work done, manpower, materials, issues)
  • Track delays and propose recovery plans
  • Maintain site registers: material, labour attendance, cube tests, and instructions

6. Coordination

  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, architect, structural consultant, and management
  • Raise material requisitions on time to avoid stoppages
  • Support the office with documents needed for approvals, inspections, and handover

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ years of site experience, including at least one project from foundation to finishing
  • Strong in quantity estimation, measurement, and bill checking
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Excel
  • Understanding of IS codes and standard site quality practices
  • Able to manage labour and contractors firmly and fairly
