Job Summary:

The Agronomy Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the agronomy team by assisting with field research, data collection, and providing technical support to growers. This position involves a mix of field work, lab analysis, and administrative tasks, contributing directly to the improvement of crop yields and sustainable agricultural practices. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow within the field of agronomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist agronomists in conducting field trials, including plot layout, planting, fertilizing, pest management, and harvesting.
  • Collect and record accurate field data on crop growth, development, pest pressure, disease incidence, and soil conditions.
  • Operate and maintain various field equipment and precision agriculture tools, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Conduct soil, plant tissue, and water sample collection and prepare them for laboratory analysis.
  • Monitor crop health and identify potential issues such as nutrient deficiencies, pest infestations, and disease outbreaks.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to growers under the supervision of a senior agronomist.
  • Assist in the compilation and analysis of agronomic data, generating reports and presentations as required.
  • Maintain detailed records of field activities, observations, and experimental results.
  • Participate in grower meetings, field days, and educational workshops to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and environmental regulations during field operations.
  • Support the development and implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
  • Assist with inventory management of supplies, seeds, and chemicals.
