Full job description
Job Description: Freelance / Part-Time Fashion Designer – Kidswear Export
Position Type: Freelance / Part-Time (Remote or Hybrid) Department: Design Reports To: Head of Design / In-House Design Team
About the Role
We are looking for a freelance fashion designer to support our in-house kidswear design team on a part-time basis. The in-house team handles the core creative direction, concept development, and execution of each project based on buyer briefs. This freelance role is focused on revisions and amendments — refining existing designs based on feedback from buyers and the in-house design team to ensure projects move quickly and accurately toward final approval.
This is an ideal role for an experienced designer who wants flexible, project-based work without owning the full creative process from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
Revise and amend kidswear designs (prints, AOPs, garment artwork, colorways, layouts) based on detailed feedback from buyers and the in-house design team.
Turn around amendment requests within agreed timelines, maintaining design integrity and brand/buyer requirements.
Adjust color combinations, scale, placement, and repeat of prints and patterns as directed.
Prepare clean, production-ready files (CorelDRAW/Photoshop) for internal review and buyer submission.
Maintain version control and clear documentation of changes made across rounds of revisions.
Collaborate closely with the in-house team to understand buyer intent and translate feedback accurately into design changes.
Requirements
Software Skills
Strong proficiency in CorelDRAW and Adobe Photoshop (mandatory).
Comfortable working with layered files, repeats, color separations, and export-ready artwork.
Design Knowledge
Solid understanding of prints, All-Over-Prints (AOP), placement prints, and pattern construction for kidswear.
Strong grasp of color theory and color combinations relevant to international markets, particularly:
Middle East markets (bold yet market-appropriate palettes)
Sober, muted, and refined color combinations as seen in Turkey, Paris, UK, and US markets
Ability to originate and adapt designs — strictly no direct copy-pasting of prints, AOPs, or artwork sourced from the internet. Must be able to take inspiration and rework it into original, market-relevant output.
Experience
Prior experience in kidswear design, preferably within an export or buying-house environment.
Experience working directly from buyer comments and structured feedback loops is a strong plus.
Soft Skills
Quick to understand and execute on feedback without requiring extensive creative direction.
Strong attention to detail and consistency across revision rounds.
Reliable communication and ability to meet tight, recurring deadlines.
What This Role Is NOT
This is not a primary creative/concept-development role — initial design creation and buyer-facing creative strategy remain with the in-house team.
Not suitable for designers who rely on directly lifting prints/patterns from online sources without originating their own variations.
