Full job description
Principal Engineer.
Job Overview
We at Arm are crafting the future of Software-Defined Vehicles and Robotics driven by Physical AI by building next-generation reference software platforms for sophisticated compute subsystems. We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our growing team and help drive this exciting transformation
You will lead key technical initiatives in multiple engineering domains. You will collaborate with software leads, architects, and program management teams. Your goal is to deliver robust, scalable, highly optimized system solutions that demonstrate the full potential of Arm platforms.
This is a great opportunity for engineers who enjoy working across the complete software stack — from low-level system firmware and operating systems to middleware and application development. You will have the chance to tackle intricate technical problems, influence architecture decisions, and contribute to innovative progress in physical systems based on artificial intelligence.
Beyond technical excellence, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about building high-performing teams, mentoring engineers, and fostering a strong culture of collaboration and innovation.
If you are excited about groundbreaking technologies, eager to work on industry-defining solutions, and motivated to help build an exceptional engineering team at Arm, we would love to hear from you.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a key role in overseeing the implementation and end-to-end validation of platform firmware and software features for next-generation Physical AI compute platforms.
You will own the design and implementation of features, scalable test infrastructure, automation frameworks, and modern quality assurance practices to ensure delivery of high-performance, reliable software.
You will work closely with developers, architects, product owners, and multi-functional teams to breakdown end-to-end system-level firmware and software requirements, and develop comprehensive solutions.
You will also champion the use of industry-standard open-source frameworks and tools, established internal test environments, and continuously improve software quality, performance, and development efficiency across the group.
This position offers the opportunity to influence platform-level engineering decisions, tackle sophisticated technical challenges, and contribute to modern innovations in Physical AI systems.
In addition to technical leadership, you will mentor and guide a distributed software engineering team, fostering a strong culture of collaboration, innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
You should be able to clearly communicate architecture, decisions, risks, alternatives and recommendations to engineers as well as senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 16+ years of experience in software development, end to end verification and validation of system firmware across semiconductor development life cycle.
- Deep understanding of low-level system BSP firmware like TF-A, TF-M, SCP, OP-TEE, Xen, Zephyr etc.
- Good in programming embedded C/C++, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and familiar with Git, Pytest, ROS2, GitLab/GitHub, and Virtualization software
- Hands-on experience of defining test strategies, test methods, test metrics, productization of firmware etc.
- Leading and driving team to achieve excellent result!
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, excellent written and spoken English, and the ability to write coherent documentation, influence, and build consensus
Desirable Skills & Qualities
- Strong debugging skills, capable of navigating complex software stacks and delivering effective solutions
- Experience in qualifying automotive/robotics workloads, use cases, AI / ML software stacks, and tooling
- Experience with automotive/robotics software safety/security qualification is an added advantage!
- Good understanding of architecture and microarchitecture concepts, ideally for the Arm architecture.
If this sounds like you, please don't hesitate to apply.
In Return:
We provide an opportunity to learn about the latest Arm architecture features, working closely with a highly skilled engineering team on ground-breaking technology!
