Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair marine electrical systems onboard vessels and offshore units.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults in generators, motors, switchboards, transformers, and control panels.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on marine electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and OEM manuals.
  • Test, commission, and calibrate electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain navigation, communication, alarm, and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning of AC/DC power distribution systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in automation and control systems.
  • Conduct insulation resistance testing and electrical safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with SOLAS, IMO, and other maritime regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
  • Coordinate with Marine Engineers, Technical Superintendents, and Shipyard teams during repair and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Marine Electrician in ships, shipyards, offshore vessels, or marine projects.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and power distribution networks.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical and automation systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with marine safety procedures and international maritime standards.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cargo vessels, tankers, offshore support vessels, or drilling rigs.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems, VFD drives, and marine automation systems.
  • Experience in switchboard maintenance and generator synchronization.
  • STCW Basic Safety
