Purpose of the role
Builds and maintains the group's web properties and the B2C portal in-house, and connects the marketing stack to the rest of the group's systems. This is a permanent role because the group has several properties to run and a commerce portal to operate, which is ongoing work, not a one-off build.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain the group's web properties across the export, trade, farmer and B2C audiences.
- Build and run the B2C ecommerce portal.
- Build landing pages and campaign microsites on demand.
- Own site performance, technical SEO and uptime.
- Integrate the marketing stack: CRM, the WhatsApp business platform, analytics and the automation backbone.
- Work within the agreed boundary between the marketing stack and the group ERP, so the two integrate cleanly rather than overlap.
- On the Marketing Engine build, take build-track direction from the Project Coordinator, while day-to-day web work continues to flow through the Marcom Coordinator. Section 3 sets out the split.
What this role does not own
- The group ERP core, which sits with group IT and its ERP vendor. This role integrates with it; it does not build or replace it.
- Visual design: this role implements the designer's UI rather than originating it.
- Content and strategy.
Experience and skills
- Front-end or full-stack development, with CMS and ecommerce experience.
- Comfort with integrations and APIs, including CRM and the WhatsApp business platform.
- Technical SEO and performance know-how.
- The judgment to work cleanly against a separate ERP boundary.
AI and tools fluency
- Uses AI coding assistants to build and maintain faster, with architecture and integration decisions staying a human responsibility. Realistic AI leverage here is moderate.
