A Master ‘s Degree in Library and Information Science with at least 55% marks and qualification in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or a similar test like SLET/SET in Library Science and Information Science.

Desirable: Ph. D. in Library and Information Science

Key Responsibilities

Overall Library management: Oversee the management of library operations, such as budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation.

Collection Development Technical Services - which includes various procedures involved in acquisition of different materials, classification and processing, cataloguing and creating metadata

Information Access Services - that include circulation, reference services, access to digital resources, assisting with research-related tasks and library website-related activities

Record Maintenance - Completing administrative work such as filing paperwork and updating library records, Conduct regular checks and updates on inventory and database information

Additionally, the librarian is also responsible for having a broader vision for overall development of the library which includes:

Develop and implement a strategic vision for library services, aligning with the institution's requirements.

Lead and inspire a team of library professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Evaluate and enhance library collections, ensuring they are diverse, inclusive, and reflective of current trends and university’s interest.

Utilize data-driven approaches to assess library performance and user satisfaction, implementing changes based on findings.

Skills Required

ICT skills - Knowledge of library management software especially KOHA and proficiency in using computer applications such as Word, Excel along with AI tools.
