Job Title & Overview

Medical Officer / Resident Medical Officer (RMO)

Department

Clinical Services / Inpatient Care / Emergency Department

Reports To: MS / Head of Department / Senior Consultant

Primary Objective:

Provide round-the-clock direct medical care to inpatients and outpatients, ensure timely diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and maintain medical documentation and patient safety standards.

Core Roles & Responsibilities

1. Direct Patient Care & Management

Admissions & Assessments:

Conduct detailed initial clinical evaluations, take comprehensive medical histories, and perform physical examinations for newly admitted patients.

Daily Rounds:

Perform routine daily ward rounds to evaluate patient progress, adjust treatment plans, order diagnostic tests, and review lab/radiology results.

Prescription & Treatment: Prescribe medications, fluids, and therapeutic interventions in alignment with hospital protocols and attending consultant directives.

Procedures:Perform routine bedside medical procedures (e.g., IV insertion, arterial blood gas sampling, catheterization, lumbar punctures, wound suturing, and chest drain assistance.

2. Emergency Response & Resuscitation

* **Code Blues & Triage:** Act as a first responder for acute patient deterioration, Code Blue calls, and cardiac arrests within the hospital.

* **Emergency Department Management:** Stabilize incoming acute cases in the ER, initiate life support measures (BLS/ACLS), and arrange urgent specialty consultations or ICU transfers.

3. Care Coordination & Communication###

* **Specialist Liaison:** Communicate patient status changes promptly to supervising Consultants, Specialists, and surgical teams.

* **Handover & Shift Transitions:** Lead structured clinical handovers at shift changes (using protocols like SBAR) to guarantee continuity of care.

* **Family Engagement:** Counsel patients and their relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and discharge plans with empathy and clarity.

### 4. Administrative, Legal & Documentation

* **Electronic Health Records (EHR):** Maintain timely, accurate, and legible clinical documentation, including admission notes, daily progress notes, order sheets, and discharge summaries.

* **Medico-Legal Compliance:** Complete official documentation such as death certificates, medico-legal case (MLC) reports, and incident reports according to legal guidelines.

* **Quality & Infection Control:** Adhere strictly to hospital infection control policies, patient safety protocols, and accreditation standards (e.g., NABH, JCI).

## Qualifications & Key Skill

| **Education** | **MBBS** (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent recognized medical degree. |

| **Licensure** | Active, valid registration with the relevant national/state Medical Council or Board. |

| **Certifications** | **BLS** (Basic Life Support) and **ACLS** (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are usually mandatory. |

| **Clinical Competencies** | Strong diagnostic reasoning, emergency stabilization, pharmacology knowledge, and procedural proficiency. |

| **Soft Skills** | High stress resilience, clear communication, crisis leadership, empathetic bedside manner, and effective teamwork. |

## Working Conditions & Shifts

* **Work Schedule:** Rotational shift work, including night shifts, weekends, and holiday coverage, to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 hospital coverage.

* **Work Environment:** High-intensity inpatient wards, Intensive Care Units (ICU), and Emergency Departments requiring quick clinical decision-making.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
