Job Summary
The Output Editor is responsible for managing the news output desk, ensuring accurate, timely, and engaging news content across all bulletins and digital platforms. The candidate should have strong editorial judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage daily news output and bulletin production.
- Edit, verify, and approve news content before broadcast/publication.
- Coordinate with reporters, producers, anchors, and assignment teams.
- Ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance with editorial guidelines.
- Prioritize breaking news and develop news angles for maximum audience engagement.
- Write and edit headlines, scripts, and news copies.
- Supervise rundown preparation and bulletin execution.
- Maintain high standards of journalistic ethics and quality.
- Guide junior editorial staff and provide newsroom support.
- Coordinate with technical and production teams for smooth news operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a News Channel, Digital News Platform, or Media Organization.
- Excellent command of English and/or regional language.
- Strong news sense and editorial decision-making ability.
- Experience in newsroom software and content management systems.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and under tight deadlines.
