Physician Assistant - Cardiology / Cardio-Thoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS)

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Support

• Assist cardiologists and cardiac surgeons during patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Conduct patient history taking and physical examinations.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after cardiac procedures.
• Participate in ward rounds and document clinical findings.

Cath Lab & Procedure Support

• Assist in cardiac catheterization, angiography, angioplasty, and other interventional cardiology procedures.
• Prepare patients for procedures and ensure informed consent is completed.
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition during procedures.

OT (Operation Theatre) Support

• Assist cardiac surgeons during CTVS and other related surgeries.
• Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables.
• Ensure adherence to OT protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.

Post-Operative Care

• Monitor cardiac surgery patients in ICU/CCU and wards.
• Assist in managing drains, dressings, and post-operative follow-up.
• Identify complications and escalate concerns to consultants.

Emergency & On-call Duties

• Respond to cardiac emergencies, code blue situations, and emergencies in ICU/CCU.
• Attend on-call duties as per departmental roster.
• Coordinate patient transfers within emergency, ICU, OT, and wards.

Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain accurate medical records and procedure notes.
• Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, OT staff, perfusionists, and technicians.
• Ensure timely completion of discharge summaries and clinical documentation.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Manage inventory and equipment related to cardiac procedures.
• Support quality initiatives, NABH compliance, and departmental audits.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuous medical education programs.

Qualification

• B.Sc./M.Sc. Physician Assistant Studies (Cardiology/Cardiothoracic specialization preferred).
• Valid registration as applicable.
• Experience in Cardiology, Cath Lab, ICU, or CTVS preferred.

Skills Required

• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• ECG interpretation and basic life support skills.
• ACLS/BLS certification preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and emergency response skills.
