Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct topographical, contour, and boundary surveys
• Establish and maintain survey control points and benchmarks
• Perform layout marking for:
  • Roads
  • Buildings
  • Foundations
  • Pipelines
  • Transmission structures
• Verify elevations, alignments, and coordinates during construction
• Operate survey instruments such as:
  • Total Station
  • DGPS/GPS
  • Auto Level
  • Drone survey systems (in some projects)
• Prepare survey reports, drawings, and as-built documentation
• Coordinate with:
  • Civil engineers
  • QA/QC teams
  • Site execution teams
  • Consultants and contractors
• Ensure survey accuracy according to project specifications and safety standards
• Monitor earthwork quantities and measurement records
• Support billing measurements and progress verification

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Surveying techniques
  • Coordinate systems
  • Leveling and traversing
  • Construction drawings
• Experience with software like:
  • AutoCAD
  • Civil 3D
  • GIS/survey processing tools
• Ability to read structural and civil drawings
• Familiarity with large industrial/power projects

Qualification

Usually one of the following:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering
• ITI Surveyor trade
• B.Tech/B.E. Civil (preferred for senior positions)

Experience Requirement

Typical NTPC/EPC contractor expectations:

• 5–15 years of surveying experience
• Experience in:
  • Power plant projects
  • Industrial construction
  • Infrastructure projects
• Prior work with EPC companies is highly valued
