Logistics Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic Logistics Manager to oversee end-to-end multimodal transport logistics operations for nationwide project execution. The role includes transportation, warehousing, dispatch planning, and coordination with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.

Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate in any discipline (MBA or Supply Chain preferred)
• 7 to 15 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or dispatch
• Experience in project logistics, retail rollout, signage, or FMCG distribution is an advantage

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Logistics cost efficiency (target reduction of 10 to 15 percent within 3 months)
• On-time delivery rate
• Vendor performance
• Reduction in damage or loss incidents
• Dispatch turnaround time

Key ResponsibilitiesLogistics and Dispatch Management

• Plan and execute dispatch of materials to multiple project locations across India in a cost-efficient manner
• Optimize shipment planning to reduce freight costs through consolidation, route planning, and mode selection
• Ensure timely pickup, transit, and delivery while minimizing expedited shipping expenses
• Monitor shipment status and resolve delays proactively to avoid penalties and re-dispatch

Vendor and Transporter Management

• Identify and onboard cost-effective transport vendors across regions
• Negotiate freight rates and long-term contracts to achieve cost savings
• Develop a reliable vendor pool to reduce dependence on high-cost emergency transporters
• Periodically review vendor performance focusing on cost efficiency and service quality

Planning and Coordination

• Align dispatch schedules with project timelines to avoid last-minute premium logistics costs
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure materials are ready, avoiding storage and idle transport charges
• Plan reverse logistics efficiently to minimize return freight expenses
• Optimize last-mile delivery planning to reduce multiple trips and partial loads

Documentation and Compliance

• Ensure accurate documentation to prevent penalties, delays, and demurrage charges
• Track Proof of Delivery (POD) to support timely billing and payment cycles
• Maintain compliance to avoid legal fines, detention charges, or shipment holds

Cost Control and Optimization

• Identify opportunities to reduce logistics costs without impacting service levels
• Implement load optimization, route planning, and mode optimization strategies
• Monitor logistics spend against budgets and recommend corrective actions
• Analyze cost data to improve efficiency

Inventory and Warehouse Coordination

• Coordinate dispatch planning to minimize storage time and warehousing costs
• Optimize stock movement to reduce handling and repacking expenses
• Track damaged or lost shipments and ensure timely claims recovery
• Improve packaging methods to reduce transit damage and replacement costs

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience in:

• Retail rollout logistics
• Signage, POSM, or fabrication industry
• E-commerce last-mile logistics
• Field operations supply chain
• Handling urgent, multi-city projects

Required Experience – Multi-Modal Logistics Handling

• Hands-on experience in managing multi-modal transportation for time-critical shipments
• Proven experience handling logistics through:
• App-based on-demand transport platforms (e.g., Porter)
• Bus parcel services (private bus operators)
• Train cargo and railway parcel services
• Air shipments for urgent deliveries
• Ability to select the most cost-effective transport mode based on urgency, distance, and material type
• Experience in coordinating pickups, documentation, tracking, and last-mile delivery
• Strong understanding of cost optimization across different transport modes
