Full job description

About Drytis

Drytis is an AI driven startup building software and execution systems for a faster, more intelligent future of work. The company operates in a high accountability, fast moving environment where strong operators are trusted with real ownership, cross functional exposure, and meaningful execution responsibility from day one.

This role sits at the intersection of legal work, business operations, and AI enabled execution. It is designed for a sharp prelaw candidate, law graduate, or early career legal professional who wants substantive legal operations experience inside a startup environment rather than a purely clerical or assistant style role.

Role Overview

Drytis is hiring a full time Legal Operations Associate to help manage legal workflows across contracts, documentation, compliance coordination, claims support, and outside counsel collaboration. This person will not be limited to scheduling or administrative support; the expectation is that they can take ownership of structured legal work, move matters forward independently, and bring rigor to legal operations across the business.

The right candidate is highly organized, intellectually sharp, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to balance speed with judgment. This is a strong fit for someone who wants real exposure to how legal matters are handled inside an operating company and who is excited to pair legal thinking with AI native execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, revise, review, format, and manage contracts and legal documents, including NDAs, service agreements, engagement letters, commercial summaries, internal memos, templates, and supporting legal documentation.
  • Review documents for consistency, completeness, key dates, signature status, missing exhibits, defined terms, renewal language, and execution readiness before internal or external legal review.
  • Maintain well structured contract logs, matter trackers, entity records, legal files, compliance checklists, and document version control systems.
  • Coordinate with external attorneys, registered agents, counterparties, vendors, and internal stakeholders to collect information, track open issues, and keep legal matters moving.
  • Support legal operations and compliance workflows by organizing documents, routing approvals, monitoring deadlines, and preparing materials needed for internal review or outside counsel.
  • Assist with litigation, disputes, and claims support in a strictly non advisory capacity by organizing facts, correspondence, exhibits, timelines, and document sets.
  • Build structured case and claims packets, including chronologies, evidence folders, supporting attachments, indexes, and filing ready documentation.
  • Convert large volumes of notes, emails, call summaries, and raw materials into clear legal packets, issue trackers, action lists, and decision support documents.
  • Prepare first draft research memos, issue summaries, document comparisons, and internal briefing materials for founder or attorney review.
  • Help improve legal operations systems over time, including intake, tracking, document organization, escalation paths, and recurring workflow design.
  • The role also includes hands-on support for a small number of active lawsuits and claims, focused on organization, documentation, and litigation operations rather than providing legal advice.

AI & Technology Expectations

AI capability is a core requirement for this role, not a bonus.

The candidate should already be strong with AI tools and should be expected to use them extensively and intelligently across daily work. This includes:

  • Drafting first versions of legal and business documents using AI, then refining them with strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • Summarizing long contracts, correspondence chains, claims materials, and legal documents into usable work products.
  • Identifying issues, inconsistencies, missing facts, follow up questions, and next steps from large volumes of information.
  • Accelerating research, organization, and matter preparation using AI assisted workflows.
  • Building lightweight automations, templates, prompts, and repeatable systems that improve execution speed and reduce manual work.
  • Continuously testing and adopting new AI tools that can improve legal operations quality, turnaround time, and reliability.

This role is for someone who can combine legal reasoning, structured communication, and AI driven execution in a practical business environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Pre law student, law graduate, legal studies graduate, or early career legal professional.
  • Strong interest in contracts, legal operations, compliance, claims support, startup law adjacent workflows, and business documentation.
  • Capable of handling substantive legal work product under direction, rather than functioning only as an administrative assistant.
  • Excellent written English and strong spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with attorneys, founders, counterparties, and business stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in a fast paced startup environment where priorities shift quickly and ownership is expected.
  • Able to manage confidential information with maturity, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Highly detail oriented, process minded, and reliable under deadline pressure.
  • Comfortable reading dense material, extracting key points quickly, and producing structured output.
  • Familiar with U.S. based business workflows, legal documentation standards, or professional communication norms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic background in pre law, law, legal studies, business law, political science, public policy, or a related field.
  • Internship, clerkship, legal clinic, law firm, compliance, claims, contract administration, or corporate support experience.
  • Experience supporting contract heavy, document intensive, or founder led environments.
  • Exposure to litigation support, claims handling, case preparation, dispute documentation, or structured evidence organization.
  • Strong working proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, PDF/document tools, task systems, and AI research or drafting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to create order from ambiguity and improve how recurring work gets done.

Location & Work Setup

This is a fully remote position open to candidates globally.

Candidates should be comfortable operating in a distributed team environment and must have dependable internet, strong responsiveness, and the ability to maintain overlap with U.S. aligned working hours.

Compensation

Compensation is structured as monthly USD based pay and will depend on experience, communication strength, legal aptitude, AI fluency, and operating maturity.

Exceptionally strong candidates with unusually relevant experience in legal operations, contract work, or AI enabled workflow execution may be considered above the standard range.

Growth & Opportunity

This role offers more than exposure. It is a chance to build real judgment in legal operations inside a company that values speed, ownership, and systems thinking.

For the right person, this can develop into a broader legal operations, chief of staff, compliance, or business operations track over time. Candidates who perform well should expect increasing responsibility, deeper involvement in higher stakes matters, and the opportunity to help shape how legal work is run inside the company.

Time Zone: Candidates must be able to work in the U.S. aligned hours or maintain meaningful overlap with U.S. business hours.

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹180,000.00 per month

Application Question(s):

  • Hands-on commercial contracts (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, SaaS, vendor, employment, or similar agreements) and familiarity with U.S. business workflows and/or Indian corporate compliance.

Experience:

  • corporate legal, contract management and compliance: 2 years (Required)

Work Location: Remote
