Full job description

· Conduct initial assessment of individuals with blindness, low vision and VIMD and identify their rehabilitation needs.

· Provide counselling and guidance to individuals and their families to understand the impact of vision loss and available rehabilitation options.

· Develop individualized rehabilitation plans based on the person’s needs, abilities, interests and goals.

· Provide training in independent living skills, communication skills, orientation and mobility, Braille and other rehabilitation skills, as required.

· Conduct Functional Vision Assessment and provide appropriate recommendations for functional use of vision.

· Train individuals in the effective use of optical and non-optical low vision devices and assistive technology.

· Provide educational guidance and support to children, students and their families based on their visual and functional needs.

· Provide rehabilitation support to individuals with multiple disabilities and coordinate with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

· Provide vocational guidance, skills training, referral and job placement support, wherever required.

· Prepare medical reports, recommendation letters, case reports and other required documentation.

· Monitor individual progress, conduct follow-up and modify rehabilitation plans based on changing needs.

· Conduct and coordinate Parent Meets, parental workshops, Summer Camps and other rehabilitation programmes.

· Participate as a resource faculty in training programmes and conduct sessions on low vision and rehabilitation for parents, rehabilitation workers, vision technicians, optometrists and other professionals.

· Participate in departmental activities, outreach programmes, camps and community-based rehabilitation initiatives.

· Maintain equipment, assistive devices and training materials and ensure proper upkeep of the department.

· Monitor the work of field assistants at secondary centres, as and when required.

· Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and other report as required

Pay: From ₹17,000.00 per hour
