School Counsellor jobs

Cadabams Group is looking for a compassionate, experienced, and student-focused School Counsellor with hands-on experience in the IB Curriculum. The Counsellor will be responsible for supporting the emotional, social, behavioural, and psychological well-being of students while working closely with teachers, parents, school leadership, and other professionals.

The ideal candidate should understand the developmental needs of children and adolescents and be familiar with the student-centred and internationally oriented approach followed within IB schools.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling to students addressing emotional, behavioural, social, academic, and interpersonal concerns.
• Conduct age-appropriate psychological and emotional well-being interventions for students.
• Support students in managing anxiety, stress, academic pressure, peer relationships, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and adjustment concerns.
• Identify students who may require additional psychological or clinical support and facilitate appropriate referrals.
• Develop and implement social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health awareness programmes.
• Conduct workshops and awareness sessions for students on topics such as:
• Emotional well-being
• Stress and anxiety management
• Self-esteem and confidence
• Healthy relationships
• Bullying and cyber safety
• Study skills and academic stress
• Career and future planning
• Work collaboratively with IB teachers, coordinators, school leadership, learning support teams, and parents.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to student support plans.
• Support students during transitions between grades, schools, or educational environments.
• Maintain confidential and accurate counselling records in accordance with professional and school policies.
• Monitor student progress and follow up on identified concerns.
• Handle sensitive student matters with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
• Support safeguarding and child-protection practices as per school policies and applicable guidelines.
• Assist students in developing effective coping strategies, decision-making skills, resilience, and interpersonal skills.
• Provide guidance to parents and teachers regarding students' emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe school environment.

IB Curriculum – Specific Expectations

The candidate should have an understanding of the IB philosophy and learner-centred approach, including:

• Familiarity with IB learner attributes and student development.
• Understanding of the emotional and developmental needs of students within an IB environment.
• Ability to integrate counselling and well-being initiatives into the IB educational framework.
• Experience collaborating with IB educators and school support teams.
• Ability to support students with academic workload, transitions, projects, examinations, and other IB-related pressures.
• Understanding of the importance of holistic development, student agency, inclusion, and well-being within the IB setting.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Clinical Psychology or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional certification or training in counselling is preferred.
• Prior experience as a School Counsellor in an IB school is highly preferred.
• Minimum 2 - 5 Years of work Experience is Compulsory
• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong counselling, listening, and rapport-building abilities.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Experience working collaboratively with parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with children and adolescents across different age groups.
• Knowledge of IB PYP, MYP and/or DP is an advantage.
• Experience in student well-being and SEL programmes.
• Crisis intervention and risk-assessment skills.
• Workshop and group-facilitation skills.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Empathetic, approachable, and culturally sensitive personality.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural school environment.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
