Data Entry Operator is a clerical professional responsible for accurately inputting, updating, and maintaining text and numerical data into computer databases and electronic systems. They play a vital role across industries like healthcare, finance, and retail by converting physical or raw documents into structured digital records.

Core Responsibilities

• Data Inputting: Transferring alphanumeric information from paper formats, source documents, or recorded files into digital systems.
• Information Verification: Reviewing and cross-checking data files against source materials to identify and correct typos or inconsistencies.
• Database Maintenance: Regularly updating client, financial, inventory, or transactional records to ensure system accuracy.
• Record Organisation: Compiling, indexing, and sorting physical files or raw data into easy-to-search digital archives.
• System Backups: Performing regular data backups to prevent loss of sensitive data according to safety protocols.
• Administrative Support: Managing secondary tasks like photocopying, scanning invoices, printing forms, and generating basic reports.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Typing Speed and Accuracy: Proficiency in rapid typing, often requiring high-speed touch typing and specialized 10-key numeric keypad skills.
• Age criteria 18 to 29 years

Software Competency: Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Access, and Word) and cloud programs like Google Sheets.
