The role requires a hands-on agricultural professional who can plan, coordinate, monitor, and optimize all activities related to sugarcane cultivation with the objective of achieving maximum yield, superior crop quality, and efficient cost management.
The primary focus will be on sugarcane production, including seed cane development, in close coordination with the sugar factory and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sugarcane Production & Crop Management
- Plan and oversee complete sugarcane cultivation cycles from land preparation to harvesting.
- Develop and execute sugarcane planting plans based on variety selection, soil conditions, irrigation, and production targets.
- Ensure adoption of best agricultural practices to maximize yield per acre and improve crop quality.
- Monitor crop growth, identify issues, and take timely corrective actions.
- Focus on scientific farming methods to improve productivity while reducing wastage and unnecessary costs.
2. Seed Cane Development & Factory Coordination
- Coordinate sugarcane seed production activities as per factory requirements and standards.
- Ensure proper selection, treatment, multiplication, and maintenance of quality seed cane.
- Maintain regular coordination with sugar factory teams, agriculture officers, and technical experts.
- Plan harvesting and supply schedules in coordination with factory requirements.
3. Field Operations Management
- Supervise daily farm activities across multiple plots and locations.
- Coordinate and manage field supervisors, labour teams, operators, and farm workers.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and seasonal activity plans for cultivation operations.
- Ensure timely completion of planting, irrigation, fertilizer application, pest control, and other field activities.
- Track work progress and maintain accountability among field teams.
4. Inputs, Materials & Resource Management
- Plan and monitor requirements of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, chemicals, irrigation resources, and other farm inputs.
- Ensure timely availability and proper utilization of all agricultural materials.
- Control wastage, misuse, and unnecessary expenditure.
- Maintain records of input consumption, costs, and productivity.
5. Machinery & Equipment Coordination
- Coordinate effective utilization of tractors, implements, irrigation systems, and farm machinery.
- Plan machinery deployment based on field requirements.
- Monitor repair, maintenance, fuel consumption, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with operators and mechanics to minimize downtime.
6. Cost Control & Performance Improvement
- Track cost of cultivation and identify opportunities for savings.
- Analyse productivity, input usage, labour efficiency, and operational performance.
- Maintain farm records, activity reports, and production MIS.
- Implement systems for continuous improvement in sugarcane yield and profitability.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Qualification in Agriculture preferred (B.Sc Agriculture/Diploma Agriculture or relevant experience).
- Practical experience in sugarcane cultivation and large farm operations preferred.
- Knowledge of sugarcane varieties, seed cane development, fertilizers, pest management, irrigation, and harvesting practices.
- Ability to manage field teams, labour, machinery, and large-scale agricultural operations.
- Strong planning, execution, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work actively in field conditions.
Ideal Candidate
A hands-on sugarcane professional who treats the farm like a production unit — focused on higher yield, better quality, lower cost, and disciplined execution from planting to supply.
Pay: ₹216,000.00 - ₹360,000.00 per year
