How To Write A Cloud Computing Resume

Here are nine steps for how to write a cloud computing resume:

1. Review the job listing

Start by reading the job postings for each position carefully. It is important to understand what the hiring manager expects from their ideal candidate, and reading each listing closely can help you learn about their priorities and needs. Based on each job listing, you can prepare a resume that aligns your skills and experiences with the needs of the position.

For example, if a position requests an experienced cloud computing engineer who specialises in infrastructure services, you may write a resume to reflect those qualities. Describe how many years of experience you have in the field. Also, use your work history section to emphasise your work with infrastructure services.

2. Format an outline or use a template

Prepare an outline for your resume before you write. Having an outline or using a template helps you organise your document. It allows you to create clear section headings that make the resume easy for the reader to navigate. Additionally, having an outline before writing can make the writing process faster. It makes it so you only fill in the details when completing the resume.

When formatting the outline, use good organisational strategies. For example, be consistent with formatting. Use the same formatting style for font style, font size and any italics or bold styling you use for section headings. Doing this can show you professionalism, organisation and attention to detail.

3. Include your contact details

In the header of the document, provide your contact information. List your name, phone number, city and state of residence and email address. You can also include a link to your professional portfolio if you have one. Putting these details in the header of the resume makes them easy to find. When the reader can find the information to contact you, they may be more likely to follow up on your application.

4. Write a professional summary

Under your header, include a professional summary. This summary is a brief statement that is usually two to three sentences long. It tells the reader how much experience you have in the field and highlights some key skills you want to bring to the organisation. If you have many years of experience, say how many years you have been working in cloud computing. Use the summary to outline some of your strongest and most relevant professional assets to help the reader get an overview of your skills.

If you are a new graduate or have limited direct experience in cloud computing, you can use the professional summary to express your enthusiasm for the position. You may show your willingness to learn and discuss how you can apply transferrable skills to the role.

5. Detail your employment history

Include a section to outline your employment history. In this section, list your previous professional roles. For each entry, list information like your official job title, the name and location of the company and your dates of employment. Also, give three to five bullet points describing your responsibilities in each role. Try to start each point with an active verb and support them with quantifiable details.

For example, if you worked in a client-facing cloud computing role, describe how many clients you worked with on average or give a percentage by which you grew your client base during your time with the company. Quantifying your successes helps the reader to gain deeper insight into your value as a candidate.

  • Platform as a service (PaaS)

  • Database management

When writing this section, include the name of the institution and the name of your degree. State where the institution is located. 8. Name your certifications

Provide a list of professional certifications on your resume. Certifications are important for professionals who work in the tech industry. These certificates show that you have specific technical skills that can help you perform in your role. Although you can to list certifications at the end of the resume, you may list this section near the top if you are applying for a position that requests candidates to have specific certifications. Putting the section near the top increases the chances of the hiring manager seeing that you have the right qualifications if they prefer candidates with certain professional certifications.

When listing certificates, include the name of the certification and the name of the certifying institution through which you earned the certificate. Also, include the date you earned the certificate or state its expiration date.
