As they upgrade technology in banking systems they provide high quality training, that helps to keep the staff motivated gives a sense of security, some times commute can be difficult due to posting in remote areas.
I would say there is a lot of biasness, employees are paid very less and the work culture is stressful. The promotion process is extremely slow and the growth opportunities are less.
Job at higher up is little stressful but there had been a competitive target based business for the organisation. Good relations with customers pays a good and safe job. Please try to love your job like your second lover if not first. You will enjoy.

Start working at Bank of India in 1974 at the age of 21... worked as computer operator, cashier in charge, head of the department, assistant manager.... experience working in HR deptt., Foreign exchange deptt, accounting and credit/finance department, cash deptt, and other deptt like agriculture and retail banking... learned to achieve goals, to face the challenges, and work under different work culture... to achieve the hardest target was very difficult task but to achieve it was a great pleasure too... and to have work friendly atmosphere was a plus point for me... really it was a more than 40 years duration to work for the esteemed institution which I believe as my mother, who feed me my bread and butter...
