Good at first. I felt I was treated and paid fairly in the beginning. The starting salary for the call center was above other call centers in the area, though I believe it has since decreased. I was promoted up quickly, but now I’m at a standstill.
Cons
I’ve come to a standstill. Not many more opportunities for growth. Layoffs are terrifying and occur yearly. False sense of job security. You’re just a number. Outsourcing is rampant.

Difficult to learn systems, rushed overpopulated trainings
Customer Advocate (Former Employee) - Remote - November 28, 2023
Pay was okay but it was very hard for me to learn the systems and navigate them fresh out of training. When needing help it was hard to get in contact with anyone

HR is horrible.
Human Resources Employee (Current Employee) - Clemson Road - November 23, 2023
The culture within HR is horrible. Full of nepotism. There are some amazing individuals there but they all end up leaving because they aren't being appreciated.
Pros
You may meet awesome individuals
Cons
Nepotism, Toxic workplace culture, bullying.

Start at 8:30 AM through 5:00 PM.

Good starting place
IS Intern (Former Employee) - Columbia, SC - November 15, 2023
Very solid place to begin your IT career at, and you have the opportunity to be exposed to pretty much any technology in the industry you want. Do be wary about staying long though as salary growth will be slow; good to start your career and good to finish as well.

Provider Service
Claims Customer Service (Current Employee) - Columbia, SC - November 13, 2023
A typical day is stress on top of stress. People in management that don't know the job and not willing to do the work to learn the job. Staff is not appreciated all you are a seat filler, feel unappreciated and under valued. Under paid. Sadly it's not much I appreciate other than having a job, I wouldn't recommend this department to anyone
Pros
Overtime
Cons
Untrained management

Management is terrible and theres no culture
System Analyst (Former Employee) - Richardson, TX - November 13, 2023
I worked there for about 1.5 yrs and all I got out of it was the salary. They don't even give you good health benefits and they are a healthcare company. I hear that management is now trying to lay more people off and for the dumbest reasons. They are very two-faced and not transparent about anything. As for the company culture, they try so hard to make it into a community but they are failing miserably. They really need to focus more on acutally treating their employees with decency and respect before trying to set up game nights where nobody shows up.
Pros
Office is OK
Cons
Have to pay for healthcare, no culture, horrible management

Ok place to work
RN Case Manager (Former Employee) - Albuquerque, NM - October 31, 2023
Work load increases over time and metrics are expected to be met. Cold calling members was not beneficial to the job, as they often hung up or did not understand the program. There were also way too many platforms to log into each day and it made looking up info difficult. Job was very scripted and felt like sales and not nursing. The team was overall great. Also it was wirk from home and there were internet issues from time to time which were frowned upon and management was not helpful and made you feel shameful about it even though it was out of your control. It just didn’t feel like a nursing job and became boring after a while.
Pros
Great insurance benefits
Cons
Cold calling members and supervisors

Vanity job to get you in the door.
Claims Recovery Examiner (Former Employee) - Marion, IL - October 30, 2023
The only decent position in this company is Customer Advocate. Once you move off the phone positions, it's a downhill spiral. You lose pay, even if your unit does more work. Our unit is responsible for retrieving over $500 million a year and we get paid less than phone positions. I held the phone position for over a year. It is not hard to do at all. Don't waste your time with this company. They literally do not care one bit about their employees.
Pros
Flex schedule for remote work
Cons
Short breaks, expensive food in lunchroom, no personal accountability

It was a joy and privilege to work for others and with others who cared for the people they served.
Member Care Coordinator (Former Employee) - Albuquerque, NM - October 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? I enjoyed working with the leaders and my fellow care coordinators/case managers. I loved my clients. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The most stressful part was the high case loads, but when managed, it works out. Just do your job as it should be done. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I am a former employee who worked from Northern New Mexico, and this culture is quite different from others. Each State has its own diversity. I enjoyed working and living in NM. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I was a teleworker, so my days were varied from in home work on reports, calling clients, scheduling, and on other days, I would do in home visits with the people I served.

Productive, busy, always learning work environment.
Sr Systems Test Analyst (Former Employee) - Columbia, SC - October 17, 2023
Meeting deadlines is the hardest as things typically do in life, go wrong. Great place to work and find a career path if you so choose. Lots of opportunities and always learn something new every day. Family oriented even though it’s a bigger business. Culture is different than most national companies so if you can learn their way you’ll be in the road to success and travel as far as you want to go.
Pros
Can find a career path
Cons
None

Good Company
A company that challenges you to do your best. Working at becoming more progressive. Vacation is not the best but other benefits are pretty good.

Low pay for the amount of work expected.
Claims Processor (Former Employee) - Florence, SC - October 9, 2023
I worked there 24 years and enjoyed my coworkers. Management is overworked so they pass that on to the rest of the employees. While i was working there I didn’t see how bad it was, but i was never happy at my job. It took me leaving to see how bad it really was, and how much they should have been paying me. Benefits were pretty fair, I’ll give them that much.
Pros
Cafeteria and workout facility on the premises.
Cons
Low pay, yearly raises very low, they expect too much for the pay.

BC/BS Customer Service (Former Employee) - Birmingham, AL - September 21, 2023
Horrible phones stay in que all day, over 800 calls a day, technicians are always right when they clearly are no at the customer home. You are not ever trained properly fir any of the new software that you are forced to do with only 3 hrs worth of training for one day. Shifts bids are rare you become stuck on a for years. Rarely get a shift with weekends off.
Pros

Cons
apply at own risk
