Flexibility great, pay could be better.
Administrator (Current Employee) - Rocklin, CA - June 8, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorking at EK is great. Same thing, different day. The pay could be way better considering what is expected of you on a daily basis. Raises aren’t given as often as they should. You could put in a ton of effort for so long and not be compensated for it. Nothing could beat the amount of flexibility this company offers. You have the opportunity to make up time which isn’t offered with a lot of other employers.
Pros
Flexibility, benefits, morale
Cons
Dress code, poor pay, limited advancement

Professionally Rewarding
Utilization Review Physician (Former Employee) - San Jose, CA - August 26, 2022
Reviewing charts for medical necessity. Sometimes deadlines are short but were always notified by phone immediately if this were the case. Friendly and helpful director, held to metrics and deficiencies were thoroughly explained and methods to improve were offered.
Pros
Sense of purpose
Cons
sometimes reviews were few and far between

Professional and Prompt
Nurse Case Manager (Former Employee) - Remote - July 2, 2021
Everything about EK Health was well run, in a friendly and professional manner. I was hired for a temp position at a certain amount of hours per week. When outside demands shifted, they allowed me to adapt, which made me feel valued. On the other hand, I was not made aware of a way to earn an increase in pay, even as I was asked to take on a training role. So that would be my only area of improvement -- recognizing additional responsibilities with additional pay. I was paid for the time I worked, and they were accommodating to me in other ways, so I have no complaints. A great company!

A good remote job
Utilization Review Intake/Index Coordinator (Current Employee) - Remote - June 2, 2021
The hours are great, the job security is there but the pay is not the best. Not much room for growth. Does not really hire from within. Very busy workplace.
Pros
hours
Cons

Unethical Company
Case Manager (Former Employee) - Remote - February 3, 2021
Nurses are paid hourly, high caseloads, no overtime allowed. Staff morale is low. Nurses are working 10-12 hours per day to meet billable time requirements. The only way to keep up with caseloads and billable time requirement is to work overtime and falsify timecards or overbill the customers. Employees are rewarded for overbilling customers and written up if OT is entered on timecards. EK is more concerned about the bottom line than staff or customers and won't hire more case managers. Customers have left because the expectation for case managers is quantity, not quality. Account managers make lots of promises to companies and then once the contract is signed the red carpet is rolled up and put in a corner. Good case managers leave because they are treated poorly. No opportunity for advancement. Leadership is out of touch and won't help overworked case managers because it's beneath them to actually work on a file. Health insurance benefits for employee only. EK doesn't pay any portion of spouse/family coverage and the premiums are unaffordable. PTO is based on hours worked and does not increase no matter how long you are with the company. There are no bereavement benefits.
Pros
Work at home, decent pay
Cons
Poor management, benefits are terrible, high caseloads, OT not allowed and is grounds for a write up or termination, low staff morale, unethical overbilling, no advancement opportunities

Has proven to be a flexible, appreciative employer
Remote Nurse Case Manager/Discharge Planner (Current Employee) - San Jose, CA - June 15, 2019
I work from home telephonically doing discharge planning for surgery patients. I generally operate on my own schedule as long as my tasks are done timely. I have found EK Health to be a considerate employer whose credo is: Efficiency, Excellence, Integrity, Innovation and Passion.

EK Health Services, Inc is a growing company
OPERATIONS MANAGER (Current Employee) - San Jose, CA - September 20, 2018
It has been nice to be part of a company that continues to grow. It is becoming a large company with a small company feel. I have enjoyed being part of multiple departments over the years.
Pros
The ability to work from home
Cons
Not much opportunity for upward mobility.

Good place to work
Utilization Review Intake Coordinator (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - August 28, 2018
I would usually arrive at 8am and leave for the day at 5pm. I learned a lot of about workers compensation and the correlation it has with safety in the workplace. The original manager I had was very helpful in training me when I first started and assisted anytime I needed help throughout my tenure with the company. The culture was laid back but busy. The hardest part of the job was trying to communicate with adjusters in regards to specific claims. The most enjoyable part was making lifelong friendships with the coworkers.
Pros
Unlimited overtime
Cons
Became tedious and no room for growth due to it being a small company.

A quality well managed company.
National Account Manager (Former Employee) - San Jose, CA - August 2, 2018
My time at EK Health was short lived as a result of the PBM program being discontinued because of a merger and acquisition.
EK Health gave me the support and tools to successfully launched a new Pharmacy Benefit Management program that include large and small employer groups, state and local governments, and third party administrators. They also allowed me to developed the marketing campaign, train in-house staff and was the key consultant to developing the operational needs to implementing the first client programs.
Pros
EK Health was proactive and responsive to my business needs.
Cons
The inability to prevent an outside company's merger and acquisition effort.

Great working from home, but always on edge.
Intake Coordinator (Former Employee) - Remote - February 1, 2018
I found this opportunity on Craigslist. I was very happy this position was remote. For what you have to do for this job, you get 3 days of training. I was glad that they reimbursed for mileage, hotel, and meal costs. Told not to get too comfortable as they would be having an office within a few months, but that never happened. This job requires perfection at all times. If you're not, you'll get what they call a QA for a critical error. If you get several of those within a certain time span, your job is in jeopardy or you will be let go. Not a lot of opportunities to move up in the company, and they aren't flexible with adjusting working hours to increase your education to move up within the company.
Pros
Work from home, friendly staff, reimbursement for training travel expenses
Cons
Must be perfect. If you get a certain amount of critical errors (missed items) when setting up cases, you could lose your job.

Great Company - Poor Management
Customer Service Coordinator (Current Employee) - Newport Beach, CA - August 22, 2017
Great Company - Poor Management
Managers are not held responsible for training their employees.
Mistakes are made and disciplinary actions are enforced, where clear training issues have occurred.
Would not recommend to anyone serious about advancing their career.

Interpreter/Translator (Current Employee) - San Jose, CA - July 9, 2013
Arriving at the appointment is very easy going, meeting patient at their appointments and basically to translate what the doctor say. what I've learn is that helping people was the best thing i have ever did, especially for my culture and my ethnicity. The most enjoyable part is that i get to meet people that i've never heard of or seen before and extend my experiences.
Pros
They were paying me 40 dollar an hr.
Cons
On-Call
