Very collaborative working environment overall. You need to be ready to work in Kent/Surrey with related commuting time if you live in London (between 2-3 hours return door to door depending on where you live) as most of the UK teams are based there. Few teams in London. Fidelity as an Organisation want to achieve great innovative services and products to their clients but lack sometimes clear strategic direction, management decision and support, people and funding commitments. All this would need more consistency and commitment to be really efficient.
I have worked at Fil both as a permanent member of staff and as an interim. No two days are the same. However they proactively support their people and encourage them to own their careers. Can't fault Fidelity in any way.
Great facilities. Wherever you work you will always feel you are a part of Fidelity.
Some people don't embrace Fidelity's culture, but if you do you'll be recognised and supported
Old fashioned company - not much progress or new thinking. There is a view that challenge never occurs as no one wants to rock the boat so new ideas are never brought forward
Worked as a contractor there and enjoyed my time - lots of variety to the work in terms of products and marketing channels. A good place for collaborative working and to learn about investment products and marketing.
Good work / life balance
Only worked as a contractor so no long term security
Fidelity is a great company to work for where you are rewarded for your efforts. They need to work on communication between teams and people would be surprised about how antiquated their systems are and the sheer number of technology people to try and keep the systems up and running.
Fast paced international Asset Management Company daily interaction with sales teams various other divisions globally. Long hours required in occasion, great incentives packages and team working. Complex diary management across time zones and complex and detailed travel key attributes of role.
Fidelity is trying to become more Agile, they have the right idea, they are setting some of the right things in motion but they are horribly constrained by all of the things that hold back large corporates. It's a good place to work and most of the people there are really good at what they do, there is a defensive attitude to the many layers of middle management and the offshore development teams, whilst good technically are misguided and mis-managed locally, breaking through the culture and even further layers of management there is something that you MUST do
