Management lacks authority and unprofessional with letting workers know that overtime has to be done within the same day 12hr. If you have a family and kids they don’t care. They will replace you. Rude managers from walnut location.
As has been said in other posts, it's a hot working environment. But honestly, you can adjust to the heat. But it's much harder to adjust to the lack of caring that's shown by the management towards the people who who work here. It's all about the bottom line, so if you come here with that in mind, you'll do OK. But if you are expecting something more professional in their treatment of the employees, you may want to look elsewhere
The pay after 18 months
Great pay and benefits if you live in Topeka!. typical factory work environment you have hot and cold climates depending on your department. the hours for newbies aren’t all that great unless you enjoy working 2nd shift..overall great place to work if you stay in Topeka.
Paid lunch breaks lots of voluntary overtime
Poor management lack of sick time
The pay is good but at what cost! The plant is your home you don’t get to enjoy it much....you’ll miss out on a lot of things due to work and there very strict with giving time off ( even if you have vacation) don’t be a woman and fall pregnant (current situation) they look at you as if you’re useless and treat you like an outcast as if you’re carrying a deadly disease because to them you’re no longer any help to them if you can no longer do the job assigned rather than giving you something else to accommodate your restrictions by your doctor because “ pregnancy isn’t work related we don’t have to accommodate anything”
This isn't a job you take and think "I'm going to move up in the company and make something of my life!". This is the job you take and think, "This is my life now. 12 hours a day, forever." it's hot, it's dirty and even if you get promoted it's just to another hot dirty job. if you stick it out long enough, you get to work in the office, which is just hot.
pay and benifits
Typical workday consisted of getting my equipment, reporting to my work area, and performing assigned tasks until end of shift. Learned to accommodate other employees foibles and anticipate management requirements to ease shift performance. Management was workable, some with common sense in dealing with workers, others not so well trained or controlled. Co-workers generally were good natured, good humored, and easily worked with. Hardest part of the job was dealing with poorly maintained equipment and sometimes lower level management attitudes. Most enjoyable part of my job there was the crowd at the punch clock at end of shift.
Smoke free break rooms with fairly well maintained vending machines
Too noisy (background) to easily hear PA system calls/announcements
