I joined IIT Kanpur as a visiting researcher. I had a great experience in learning new concepts and practical applications in the field of research and development. They do not have any time constraints, so if you are a workaholic, the place is for you.
Worked in the Electric Mobility Laboratory on the project of Induction Motor Designing for Electric Vehicle application based on the drive cycle characteristics of extreme geographical conditions Calculated and optimized the motor parameters to improve the efficiency, power factor and power density of induction motor using ANSYS Maxwell software and got satisfactory results
Worked as a intern. Terrible place to work at, good opportunities though. The professor I worked under was also the head of the departmennt and was alwasy caught up with administrative activites and barely had any time to allocate to the the lab and thus no growth at all. You are left there to figure everything out and work solo.
Good experience as the equipments are of superior quality. The professors and Ph.D scholars are very friendly and supportive. In a nutshell, a good place to see the ongoing research taking place.
Good quality cheap food and very good accomodation
Worked on an open channel fluid flow setup to study the physics of single and multiphase fluid flow. Implemented Particle Image and Tracking velocimetry techniques along with dye visualization methods to visualize the fluid flow. 3D printing was used to create a grid for generating turbulence. Executed PIVlab which was used to capture and analyze the single phase flows. Programmed and successfully executed PTVlab which was used to analyze the multiphase flows.
Working in favor of the students and provides a proper domain for exploring and inventing new things. Staff is highly supportive and is highly cooperative.
