IIT Kanpur is very good place to work, but the location is not great. You may get most of the stuffs inside the campus. But outside campus is not great.

Project Engineer (Current Employee) - Kanpur, UP - January 6, 2015
Presently I am working at National Wind Tunnel Facility department of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
I have been responsible for Mechanical design and integration for various models to be tested at the facility.
• Conducting researches, using various models to work out new developments and innovations and prove them to be cost – effective.
• Designing the research ideas to physics execution using various software like CAD/ CAE.
• Implementing those designs and testing the final outcome.
• In-case of any faults, reworking on the designs and implementing them.
• Testing and re-testing the designs for the perfect and flawless outcome.
• Creating reports and presentation on a regular basis for senior Scientists and clients.
• 3-D Modeling of the various models to be tested at Wind tunnel using CAD software like SolidWorks and AutoCAD. This involves 3D model of solid component, surface modeling, Assembly of all the components and drafting for the release of manufacturing or fabrication drawings.
• Finite element analyses of various metallic and composite material models in terms of static and dynamic analyses using FEM packages(Ansys and Abaqus).
• Generation of Design report is also part of my responsibility. After its validation then only any projects wind tunnel testing goes for execution.
• Wind tunnel testing for various Aerospace and Automobile projects which requires basic knowledge of lab view software for data Acquisition and analyses .
