I been working for Macys for 2 years now I worked two different locations the first location I worked was the best and I enjoyed my time there. I’m now working fashion show mall location and it’s not the very best management is terrible. It’s a lot of favoritism, they don’t care for your hours or anything about you especially if you aren’t opening any accounts. The store is very unorganized they move you around everywhere throughout the day. Only good thing is you get paid every week and you can pick up shifts.

Very low pay stressful place to work

I was hired as a seasonal worker. The environment was high paced and stressful and the pay was bad. Cool if u need a quick job and quick money but that's it.

8 years spent at the big red star, worked my way from a seasonal sales associate to Senior Asset Protection Manager. I was able to move up because I could be flexible with where I worked. I worked in three different regions, being promoted always meant I needed to move to a different location. I was lucky and had stellar district managers- store managers etc. But with every big retail chain it’s easy to be passed over and at times it can be frustrating with the level of pay vs. expectations etc.

The managers support you. There's a lot of competition among associates, you can't trust anyone. There is flexibility in working hours but the salary is horrible.

Needs Improvement at the Management level

I've worked for 4 years in the Lingerie Dept. The 1st 3 years was good because the Manager was knowledgeable. A new manager came and she was inept and was not interested in learning the Dept.

Co workers are very helpful and knowleagble; hours are flexible; some managers are helpful;

Cons

Macys must ensure managers are trained and know the area they are assgined.

Macy’s was my home for over 17 years, and worked in 9 different locations with them. I showed them my work skills, they then saw great talent in me, so they promoted me several times. They truly built my career in visual merchandising and in retail in general.

every day was full of new excitement new goals was lot to learn starting from a great employee to a great team leader positive management and always inspiring . was blessed with lots diverse customer .it was very nice o meet new customers every day and helping them .mostly enjoyed to help them and understand their needs at their level. selling and talking and making very professional relations was the key .there was nothing hard really except working very late hours

A typical day at work for me at Macy's would be greeting customers, collecting clothes putting them back in rightful places, cleaning up the fitting rooms for the next customers to come inside. I learned to have patience with customers from out of town and learn about the discounts that have. The management and work culture was amazing, welcoming, and positive. There was really nothing difficult about this job because there was always someone on call to come to help as soon as possible. The most enjoyable part of this job was being able to help customers and allowing them to leave with a smile and confidence on their faces.

Horrible place to work.

Extremely hostile work enviornment, salesman are only out for themselves and will steal your sales at any possible moment. No job security here for temps/seasonals, I was promised A full time job and never got it.

Not really a place that I would wake up, ready to go to work and enjoy it. Strong favoritism was shown for certain associates who worked there longer but not overall better. Supervisor was very condescending.

I consider they need to change. The stores have hours terrible. The schedule is terrible too. My friends left out the company. The stores must be better schedule. One group working Monday to Friday and a second group working weekends. The stores should open only 10am-6pm.
