SAP , webice etc. software packages are used for all management functions , finance , procurement and project management. The hardest part of ONGC job is continuous improvement and up-gradation of technology to keep oil and gas production intact or increased. The enjoyable part of the job is cooperation from co-workers and support of management in all crisis.

After working for 35 years as a technical professional in this Indian PSU I can say that it is an excellent place to work. Good pay in Indian standard. Good job satisfaction. Good opportunity to grow professionally. If you are efficient and sincere you can reach upto the position of CMD of the organization.

Hard working , goal oriented and methodical.

A typical day of work starts at 10 am . Though the official working hours is 8 hours i.e. till 6 pm. we need to work long hours sometimes due to urgency of work or to meet the schedule of particular task. What we learned through experience that there is no alternative to hard work. Management is generally extremely cooperative and try to compensate /reward the hard working/goal oriented people. Co-workers are generally cooperative except in few cases. The hardest part of work is to restart a plant after shutdowns ( offshore platform ) or to remove a stuck up of drilling rigs in operation. Needed to work day and night continuously on those circumstances. However, the enjoyable part of any job was the job used to be completed successfully.
