Typical Banking, professionalism is desired at all level and ranks.

Typical Banking, though depends up on the kind of job assigned. Working under tough conditions and competition.Professionalism desired.Typical to Banking sector. You need to be Hercules or sometimes more, all the times.Banking is different, fun is there all the time when ever you want to have, only thing desired is to "create" the "fun" where it is missing. This was my strategy during my tenure in the Bank.

Job security and social security

Now work life balance and unlimited target pressure. Upper management doesn't listen to the frontline staff. Late sitting and holiday working is very frequent

Lack of Work-Life balance

Pay is very good in low & mid level supervisory roles. The quality and variety of work you will get to do is very good. The exposure in whatever area of banking you are in, will be unmatched. However, HR is rude. Management style is old-fashioned and rigid. Be prepared for frequent scoldings and threats. Frequent and unpredictable transfers across the state, to even remote locations. Constant mental anxiety regarding transfers, difficulty in getting even a single day off, late-sitting culture, holiday working, calling everyone as a Sir or a Madam, are just a few of the drawbacks.

Poor work life balance

Job security but at the cost of poorest work life balance. Perks, salary and promotions are good but there is no family and personal life. Every body wants to leave but not able to.

Productive and fun workplace

Lot of potential to learn and grow, the higher officers are friendly, really willing to spend time to help newbies learn the ropes, the pay is subpar. overall 3/5.

Stressful and demeritocratic

The day in SBI is very stressful and corrosive. I had a great grooming and development career in SBI. Learning curve is very steep and dominant with the career progression you get in the bank. As you progress higher you feel flattery and alternative product sales as you only chance to move ahead. Meritocracy is dying and being replaced by sycophancy. However the institution is strong and there are few good people. Overall you will love to learn and stay honest.

Pros

Great place to learn

Cons

Technologically pristine and traditional

Exposure of dealing with clients across the country

You get a wide variety of exposure . Working in a fast paced environment can make you an efficient time manager capable of mutiltasking. Best commercial bank to work in India.

Pros

Maternity leaves, decent perquisites, exposure in India and abroad.

Cons

Operations work can be bit monotonous at times, branch managers are burdened with unrealistic targets, random transfer postings can damage family life, pay does not compensate for the difficult postings

casual worker

No matter how difficult the work, I do it with humility. The skills help the manager to build rapport with his fellow co-workers and know how to treat his subordinates well, which allows for the smooth flow of activities in the organization.to impose one's work on others.I really enjoyed the teamwork aspect of the work, and loved seeing how all the pieces of our projects came together in the end. The teamwork aspect of that job - and this job - is something I really enjoy, as I generally learn a lot that I'm able to work with others.

One of the biggest banking company in India dealing with haves havenot

Working in the bank was very interesting and it mostly depend up on how to use the co-workers and how to manage the customers. I started as Relationship Manager first and create a good relation with High Net Worth Individuals. I even fullfill some personal needs of the customers even if not requested. working at various parts and meeting different people were interesting. I have managed the pressure from the management side to achieve the business goals at various level. I have enjoyed my work more when I was appointed as field officer for disbursing loans. The inspections done at various project levels and completion of the project was interesting. The hardest part of the job was to recover dues of the loan given to borrowers. There is various formalities and finally if not remitted back, We approach the court for the recovery of money. If approach in a professional and planned manner work become easy. I never think my job is hard at any time and hardly know how the time tiks away until evening.

Pros

worked near to my place

Cons

tranfer in every three years
