Social environment. A lot of learning opportunities

I was promoted to Team leader after just shy of a year and a half. You have a lot of responsibilities for lower compensation, although I did find myself learning a lot about consumers needs and product knowledge as well as ‘how to’s of every day projects. I enjoyed working for tractor supply especially after I became more than just ‘a cashier’. Until I found out that you aren’t given your vacation time if you decide to pursue employment elsewhere before your first year as a full time employee. I had worked there for over two years and they failed to pay me my vacation.

Not a great environment.

Working here I have found there is an extreme lack of appreciation from the manager which ultimately makes you want to work a lot less harder due to there being no recognition. Excessive backbreaking work for getting paid only $12/hr in my location. The store is quite dirty and Team Members are constantly blamed for things that they have no fault in. This job is definitely a job you’d want to have if it’s short term, I would not recommend as a long term job. Raises only happen if the store meets requirement from the sales bonus which my location is quite small so it tends to be hard to hit our sale goals. Work environment can be fun but can transfer to toxic in a short amount of time.

The work isn’t as hard as some people might say, But every job pays the same, whether you are slinging dog food, or riding around on a forklift. Company doesn’t do much for Team Members. Can earn a lot of PTO. Few vacation days. Volatile overtime schedule; some weeks 2 days mandatory, some weeks none allowed at all. Promotions are rare and fading away, they would rather have college kids with no experience.

Awful management, terrible pay and work enviroment

Working for this company was a huge mistake. Not only is it a awful place to work, that underpays you and works you like a peasant, but it is managed very poorly and have prevented future employment for me due to very petty and angry management who are angry at me for quitting. I could not recommend this evil company any less due to the amount of distress and personal reputation harm they have caused me since I left. I am now broke and have nothing left, thanks to these jerks who find it necessary to mess with someone's life. Do yourself a favor and NEVER work for this company.

Terrible management, higher ups and HR doesn't help or care, insurance isn't that great, low pay for high stress work environment, possibility of long term injuries or disability that the company will not help with, tarnished reputation for leaving the company

Terrible Management and Poor Pay

My time with this company was a lot longer than it should have been. This was my first job out of high school and they worked us like dogs for minimum wage. The ONLY upside to this job was meeting some of the customers and learning about livestock and farming from them. The management team at the time would rather watch you work than lend a hand. This job was a life lesson for me, don’t stick around when you’re not being treated like your work is worth anything.

Not a bad place to work

I worked at TSC as a Team Lead while going to community college. It did the job. The pay is not even close to what it should be for the job you do (I made less than $10 an hour). But the bonuses are nice. It won't support you in any way but it's something for a younger person to get some experience.

if the store manager isn’t in, the work day is normally very fun. we can work without being yelled at, talked down on, and we can enjoy what we do, and the customers generally also have a better experience. on most days, we’re belittled and talked down on. our concerns aren’t taken seriously, and they let predators get by with no action taken, and will generally support them rather than the victims. the district managers don’t do their jobs, and also refuse to listen. i definitely wouldn’t recommend working at tractor supply. not if you value yourself.

Employees are nice, but management is hard to work with

A normal day is slow. I have learned how to drive a forklift inside a tight space. Management is hard to work with. The employees are nice and the culture is good. The hardest part is the schedule ing. The best part is the casual wear and the employee discount.

Set up to fail

Sounded great in the indeed description. Once recruited nothing was as it was supposed to be. Wasn’t told holidays worked mandatory weren’t paid if you weren’t there 90 days. A lot of people call in causing others to have to pick up the slack. Goals aren’t met safely at all. Departments you’re good in aren’t the ones they keep you in. Very disorganized. Not clear on anything about the pay, incentives, holidays.

Good place to work

Tsc is a good place to work if you're only needing part time hours. Management is very friendly and helpful. My job was usually fun because of the people I worked with. At one points, there were favorites of someone who was a team lead, but that didn't last long once the manager got wind of it.

Work hard to complete half of expectations

Minimal staff and you will be expected to complete laundry list after laundry list of completely unattainable check list items in the amount of time you have. You are expected to “do it all”, zone the whole store daily by yourself, fill propane, assist customers, load merchandise with forklift outside, stock merchandise, along with 20+ item checklists with things for you to complete many times when the only other person in the store with you being one cashier making it impossible to complete things properly regardless of your motivation. On the plus time goes by quickly as you are constantly running from one side of the store to the other and outside for propane sometimes 10+ times in the evening especially during cold months.

Management doesn't care about anyone

I learned I will never work for TSC again . management is horrible on the high level not just store level. They do not care. I was told take care of ur family during a hurricane in FL yet I still drove to work
