Jobs at United Nations
What's in a brand name?
Consultant (Former Employee) - India - April 1, 2019
The site offices are nothing like the undp offices. The employees are paid far less than the undp standards. There are no benefits in terms of id card, email address, leaves, insurances, etc. Job is not secure as it is contractual. Salaries are delayed for over a month in every cycle. Reimbursement of bills take more than an year on an average to reach the claimant. The country office is unaware how the bosses in site offices have become tyrinical and take whimsical decisions ignoring the system in place. All recruitments are done based on personal bias and reference.
Pros
Better work life balance than private sector, Relaxed work environment unlike private sector, brand name.
Cons
Delay in salary, very low daily wages paid, no id or email will be issued, no leaves granted to daily wage consultants, late reimbursements, tyrant bosses

Hard duty stations, but excellent professional satisfaction.
