About Us
Waste Management (WM), a Fortune 250 company, is North America's largest environmental solutions provider and recycler. WM serves over 20 million customers in residential, commercial, industrial and municipal markets throughout North America through a network of collection operations, transfer stations, landfills, recycling facilities and waste-based energy production projects.
Waste Management is also a renewable energy provider, producing enough electricity to power more than one million homes. One of the ways we do this is by recovering the naturally occurring gas inside our landfills to generate electricity, called landfill-gas-to-energy. By the end of 2018, we operated 130 beneficial-use landfill-gas facilities, operated 7,944 alternative fuel vehicles, had 255 habitat, species and education programs ‘on-the-ground’, and donated over $14M to charitable foundations and programs.
