Job Title: Logistics & Fleet Manager (Bulk Chemicals)Job SummaryThe Logistics & Fleet Manager will oversee the end-to-end transport operations of 25 specialized chemical tankers/fleets across India. The role requires balancing driver management, real-time tracking, customer service, and strategic load sourcing. Because the company transports bulk chemicals, ensuring strict adherence to ISO, PESO, and hazardous material (Hazmat) safety regulations is a core priority alongside maximizing fleet utilization.Key Responsibilities Fleet & Driver Management

  • Manage and supervise a team of 25+ commercial vehicle/tanker drivers.
  • Oversee driver retention, performance, discipline, and regular safety training.
  • Coordinate trip expenses, diesel allowances, and driver payouts/incentives.
  • Monitor vehicle upkeep, including fitness certificates, pollution control (PUC), and specialized chemical transport permits.
  • Tracking & Real-Time Coordination
  • Track all 25 fleets continuously using GPS tracking systems and SIM-based tracking.
  • Communicate transit updates proactively to customers regarding delays, breakdowns, or ETA changes.
  • Provide immediate assistance and emergency routing in case of en-route delays or accidents.

Load Procurement & Client Communication

  • Liaise directly with chemical companies, manufacturers, and B2B clients to secure daily or contractual loads.
  • Minimize empty running (dry runs) by strategically planning backhaul loads across different regions in India.
  • Negotiate freight rates and finalize trip terms to ensure maximum profitability per vehicle.
  • Safety, Compliance & Documentation
  • Enforce chemical safety protocols (such as Material Safety Data Sheets / MSDS handling guidelines).
  • Verify transit paperwork, including E-Way bills, legal invoices, and Tremcards (Transport Emergency Cards).
  • Ensure full compliance with Indian Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) regarding hazardous cargo.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Fleet Utilization Rate: Percentage of the 25 vehicles active and loaded daily.
  • Turnaround Time (TAT): Meeting strict loading, transit, and unloading deadlines.
  • Dry Run Minimization: Reducing the distance trucks travel without a paying load.
  • Safety & Compliance: Achieving zero regulatory fines or preventable safety incidents.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3 to 7 years in domestic logistics management, specifically dealing with bulk liquids, hazardous chemicals, or tanker fleets in India. [1, 2, 3]
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with GPS tracking platforms, transport management software (TMS), and MS Excel. [1, 2]
  • Geographical Knowledge: Strong understanding of major industrial chemical corridors and highway routes across North, South, East, and West India.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Hindi and English is highly preferred to effectively manage local drivers and corporate clients. [1]
