Job Title : Scientist - Experimental Magnetic Confinement
Overview
Pranos Fusion is seeking a dedicated and innovative Fusion Energy Scientist with a strong background in experimental fusion research, reactor design, and plasma control. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience working with magnetic confinement devices, designing and operating experimental setups, and utilising advanced plasma modelling. The successful candidate will play a vital role in advancing experimental capabilities and contributing to the development of next-generation fusion reactor technologies.
Responsibilities
50% Experimental Research and Reactor Design
- Lead and participate in experimental research projects focused on magnetic confinement devices, ensuring high performance and reliability in experimental environments.
- Design, execute, and analyse experimental setups, optimising parameters for plasma confinement, stability, and energy output.
30% Plasma Control and Modeling
- Leverage strong experimental expertise to refine plasma control techniques and improve confinement.
- Utilise and develop advanced plasma modelling tools to interpret experimental data and enhance reactor designs.
15% Publication and Representation
- Publish high-impact research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Represent Pranos Fusion at international conferences and within the broader scientific community.
5% Leadership and Mentorship
- Support and mentor junior researchers and interns as needed, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Nuclear Fusion, Plasma Physics, or a closely related field, with a focus on experimental methods and reactor design.
- Extensive hands-on experience in experimental plasma physics or fusion energy research.
- Proven expertise in magnetic confinement device development, operation, and optimization.
- Strong background in plasma control techniques and advanced modelling tools.
- Demonstrated ability to connect experimental findings with reactor design improvements.
- Willingness to work on-site in Bangalore as part of a fast-paced and ambitious research team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing and managing complex experimental setups for fusion research.
- A proven track record of scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Familiarity with cutting-edge reactor technologies and plasma modelling software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experimental Expertise: Proficiency in designing and conducting advanced experiments for plasma behaviour and reactor development, including plasma control techniques.
- Magnetic Confinement Devices: Strong knowledge and experience in the development, operation, and optimization of magnetic confinement systems.
- Plasma Modeling Proficiency: Advanced skills in utilising modelling tools to extract insights from experimental data.
- Collaborative Skills: Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams to align experimental and theoretical research.
- Leadership Potential: Capacity to take on a leading role in shaping experimental strategies and mentoring team members
