A production plant in Naroda, Ahmedabad is seeking a proactive and organized Mechanical Engineer to oversee the administrative, operational, and maintenance functions of its manufacturing plant. This role is focused on ensuring smooth day-to-day plant operations, coordinating maintenance activities, managing resources, statutory compliance, vendor coordination, and supporting production efficiency rather than hands-on production engineering.
The ideal candidate should possess strong planning, coordination, documentation, and people management skills with experience in manufacturing environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Administration
- Oversee daily plant administrative activities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Coordinate between Production, Maintenance, Stores, Quality, Purchase, and HR departments.
- Monitor plant housekeeping and ensure compliance with 5S standards.
- Supervise facility management and utility services.
- Ensure proper utilization of plant resources and infrastructure.
- Prepare daily operational reports and management dashboards.
Plant Maintenance Coordination
- Plan preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate breakdown maintenance with internal teams and external vendors.
- Monitor equipment health and maintenance records.
- Ensure availability of spare parts in coordination with Stores.
- Track machine downtime and recommend corrective actions.
- Follow up on Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs).
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers and service providers.
- Supervise contractors working inside the plant.
- Verify completion of maintenance jobs.
- Maintain vendor performance records.
- Obtain quotations and coordinate repair work approvals.
Utilities & Infrastructure Management
Monitor and coordinate operations of:
- Air Compressors
- DG Sets
- Water Supply Systems
- Pumps
- Cooling Systems
- Fire Fighting Systems
- Electrical Utilities (coordination with electrical team)
- Plant Building Maintenance
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain equipment history cards.
- Maintain maintenance logs and checklists.
- Ensure calibration schedules are followed.
- Prepare monthly maintenance reports.
- Maintain statutory records related to machinery.
- Support internal and external audits.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards.
- Coordinate safety inspections.
- Ensure proper use of PPE across maintenance teams.
- Participate in incident investigations.
- Coordinate implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure machinery safety guards and interlocks remain functional.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor spare parts inventory.
- Coordinate procurement of maintenance materials.
- Control maintenance expenses.
- Track equipment operating costs.
- Assist in annual maintenance budgeting.
Team Coordination
- Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Allocate maintenance work effectively.
- Monitor work completion timelines.
- Provide technical guidance when required.
- Conduct daily maintenance review meetings.

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech. Mechanical)
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in plant operations, maintenance coordination, or plant administration within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in chemical, polymer, plastics, FMCG, or process industries will be preferred.
Pay: ₹65,000.00 - ₹85,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
