Role Overview

A Media Relations Officer is responsible for managing an organization’s relationship with the media. They ensure accurate, positive, and strategic coverage by crafting messages, handling press interactions, and protecting the organization’s public image.

Key Responsibilities

• Media Engagement
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets
• Act as the primary point of contact for press inquiries
• Press Materials
• Write and distribute press releases, media briefs, and official statements
• Prepare spokespersons with talking points and media kits
• Media Monitoring
• Track news coverage and public sentiment
• Prepare daily/weekly media reports and insights
• Crisis Communication
• Support communication during sensitive or crisis situations
• Ensure consistent and timely messaging
• Event Coordination
• Organize press conferences, media briefings, and interviews
• Strategic Planning
• Develop media outreach strategies aligned with organizational goals
• Identify opportunities for positive media exposure

Preferred Qualifications
