Mechanical Draftsman – SolidWorks (Motors, ESC & Gearbox)

Job Summary

The Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed 3D models and 2D

manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks for electric motors, electronic speed controller

(ESC) enclosures, and gearbox assemblies. The role includes maintaining engineering drawings,

managing revisions through PDM/PLM systems, and supporting product development and

manufacturing teams with accurate technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Modeling & Drafting

• Develop 3D models and 2D detailed drawings using SolidWorks for electromechanical products.
• Create part drawings, assembly drawings, and exploded views for motors, ESC housings, and gearbox components.
• Apply GD&T, fits, tolerances, and surface finish requirements in manufacturing drawings.
• Generate BOMs directly from SolidWorks assemblies.

Product & Assembly Documentation

• Prepare drawings for: 1. Motor housing, rotor, stator stack, shaft, end shields. 2. ESC enclosures, heat sinks, mounting brackets. 3. Gearbox housings, gears, shafts, and bearing arrangements
• Develop assembly instructions and exploded views for production and service documentation.

PDM / PLM Management

• Manage CAD files, drawing revisions, and document control using PDM/PLM
• systems.
• Maintain revision history, version control, and engineering change documentation
• (ECR/ECO).
• Ensure proper file structure, naming conventions, and release workflows.
• Engineering Support
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to convert
• design concepts into detailed drawings.
• Implement design changes based on engineering reviews and testing feedback.
• Support prototype development and product improvements.
• Manufacturing Support
• Provide accurate manufacturing drawings for machining, sheet metal, and casting
• components.
• Support vendors and internal production teams with drawing clarifications.
• Assist in design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).

Required Qualifications

• ITI/Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Drafting.
• 3–6 years of experience in mechanical drafting or product development.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Part, Assembly, Drawing).
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM or equivalent PDM/PLM systems.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and mechanical fits.
• Understanding of electromechanical assemblies.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with electric motor components and assemblies.
• Exposure to ESC mechanical packaging and heat sink design.
• Basic knowledge of gearbox assemblies and mechanical power transmission.

Key Competencies

• Strong attention to detail in engineering drawings
• Good documentation and revision control discipline
• Ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes

Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
