Networking Engineer – ICT / ELV Infrastructure

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Networking Engineer will be responsible for the design support, configuration, installation, and commissioning of network infrastructure for ELV, ICT, and smart building systems executed by Technocrats.

The role focuses on ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure network architecture supporting systems such as:

• CCTV / Video Management Systems
• Access Control Systems
• Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Fire Alarm Integration Networks
• Public Address / Voice Evacuation Systems
• Structured Cabling & Data Networks
• IoT / Smart Building Platforms

The Networking Engineer will coordinate with project teams, OEMs, consultants, and client IT teams to ensure proper integration of all network-based systems.

PROJECT SYSTEMS INVOLVED

Typical projects handled by Technocrats involve:

ICT Infrastructure

• Structured cabling (Cat6 / Cat6A / Fiber backbone)
• Network racks and patch panels
• LAN / WAN infrastructure

ELV System Networks

• CCTV IP networks
• Access control networks
• Fire alarm integration networks
• Voice evacuation networks

BMS Networks

• BACnet / Modbus / TCP/IP networks
• Controller networks
• Integration gateways

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Network Design & Architecture

• Study project specifications, drawings, and BOQs to develop network architecture
• Design LAN infrastructure supporting ELV and BMS systems
• Plan network topology including:
• Core switches
• Distribution switches
• Access Switches (PoE / Non-Poe)
• Edge switches
• Fiber backbone
• Redundancy architecture

2. Installation & Configuration

• Configure and commission:
• Managed switches
• Routers
• Firewalls (where applicable)
• VLANs and network segmentation
• IP addressing schemes
• Support installation of:
• Structured cabling
• Fiber optic networks
• Network racks and active equipment

3. System Integration

Ensure seamless network integration for:

• CCTV systems
• Access control systems
• BMS controllers
• Video Management Systems
• IoT / smart building platforms

4. Network Testing & Troubleshooting

• Perform network testing and certification
• Identify and resolve:
• Latency issues
• IP conflicts
• Network congestion
• Device communication failures
• Support commissioning of integrated systems

5. Documentation & Handover

• Maintain detailed documentation including:
• Network topology diagrams
• IP addressing schemes
• Configuration backups
• Rack layouts
• Support preparation of:
• As-built drawings
• O&M manuals
• Client handover documentation

6. Coordination & Client Support

Coordinate with:

• Project managers
• Site engineers
• OEM engineers
• Client IT teams
• Consultants / PMCs

Ensure alignment between ELV systems and client IT policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in:

• Computer Engineering
• Electronics & Communication
• Information Technology
• Network Engineering

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

• CCNA / CCNP
• CompTIA Network+
• Structured Cabling Certifications (optional)
