Research Assistant -Research & Industry Engagement role (Solar Domain)

(Ideal for candidates with a PhD in Solar / Renewable Energy / Energy Systems)

About the Role

We are a leading Australian solar energy company focused on delivering reliable and sustainable solar solutions. We are looking for a highly qualified and articulate professional with strong writing, research interpretation, and industry engagement skills. This role is not hands-on technical R&D, but focuses on bridging the gap between academia, industry, and our organization through content creation, expert coordination, and strategic knowledge development.

The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background in solar/renewable energy, the ability to understand technical concepts, and excellent communication skills to represent the company in an authoritative and credible manner.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic & Industry Engagement

  • Liaise with professors, researchers, and domain experts in the solar and renewable energy ecosystem.
  • Build strategic collaborations with universities, research institutions, and industry bodies.
  • Coordinate expert discussions, webinars, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

2. Thought Leadership & Content Creation

  • Write high-quality articles, whitepapers, research briefs, and blogs on solar technology, trends, and innovations.
  • Draft technical opinion pieces and thought-leadership content on behalf of the company head.
  • Convert complex technical information into clear, insightful, and authoritative content for multiple platforms.

3. Publication & Knowledge Management

  • Publish content in industry journals, magazines, academic platforms, and company channels.
  • Manage submissions, respond to peer reviews, and track publication timelines.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of emerging research, global trends, and policy developments in the solar sector.

4. Market & Policy Intelligence

  • Monitor global and Indian solar industry trends, policy changes, and innovations.
  • Prepare concise reports and briefings for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership in developing data-backed perspectives and public communication.

5. Internal Support

  • Support the leadership team during conferences, presentations, and panel discussions.
  • Prepare expert notes, reference documents, and talking points.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and consistency across all company content.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Solar Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, Sustainability, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of solar technologies, industry landscape, and emerging innovations.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills — able to synthesize technical information clearly.
  • Experience in academic writing, publishing, or technical content development is an advantage.
  • Ability to engage confidently with professors, researchers, and senior industry stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret research papers, data, and policy documents.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in writing for journals, industry publications or research institutions.
  • Ability to convert technical information into simple, high-impact communication.
  • Strong network or familiarity with solar/renewable energy academic community (optional but preferred).
  • Ability to handle publication processes (citations, formatting, revisions, referencing tools).

Role Fit

This role is ideal for someone who:

Enjoys the solar domain but prefers writing, analysis, curation, and collaboration over in-lab technical research.

Wants to contribute to industry growth through knowledge leadership rather than engineering execution.

Is academically strong, articulate, and skilled at building relationships with thought leaders.
