About Ripik.AI

Ripik.AI is a fast-growing industrial AI company building Vision AI and Generative AI solutions for process manufacturing — steel, aluminum, cement, pharmaceuticals, power, oil & gas, and chemicals. Our platform and products (including Ripik Vision, BeltMind, JamGuard, SizeSense, ThermoSense, and Optimus) are deployed across marquee enterprises such as ArcelorMittal, Tata Steel, Godrej, and IMFA. We are backed by Accel and partner with Microsoft, Google Cloud, and AWS.

As we scale across customers, products, and geographies, we are building an in-house legal function. This is a high-ownership role for a sharp, ambitious lawyer who wants to operate at the intersection of law and business in a high-velocity startup environment.

Role Overview

The Legal & Business Associate will own and manage the legal affairs of Ripik end-to-end — from contracts and notices to intellectual property and due diligence — while partnering closely with the founders, business, and product teams. You will be the first point of contact for all legal matters and will help build the processes, playbooks, and discipline that a scaling company needs. The role blends pure legal work with hands-on business problem-solving, so commercial judgment matters as much as legal rigor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and issuing legal notices, demand letters, and responses to legal notices received by the company, coordinating with external counsel where required.
  • Contract lifecycle management on commercial agreements — MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, vendor and partner contracts, employment and consultancy agreements — including drafting, reviewing, redlining, and negotiating.
  • Filing and managing the company's patent portfolio — coordinating filings, prosecution, and renewals with patent agents/attorneys, and tracking IP across products and innovations.
  • Supporting legal due diligence for fundraising, partnerships, and customer/vendor onboarding — preparing data rooms, responding to diligence requests, and flagging risks to leadership.
  • Advising internal teams on day-to-day legal queries from sales, product, HR, and finance, providing pragmatic, business-aware guidance.
  • Ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance, maintaining trackers, and supporting secretarial/corporate governance matters in coordination with company secretary and auditors.
  • Managing the lifecycle of any disputes, litigation, or pre-litigation matters in coordination with external counsel.
  • Building legal templates, playbooks, and processes that scale — reducing turnaround time and dependence on external counsel over time.
  • Partnering on cross-functional business projects and special initiatives from the founder's office as needed.

Who You Are

  • A graduate from a Tier 1 law school (NLUs or equivalent reputed institutions) with 2–5 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Startup experience preferred— you have worked at a startup or in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and are comfortable owning outcomes end-to-end.
  • An excellent problem solver— you break down complex legal and commercial problems and arrive at practical, defensible solutions.
  • A strong communicator and presenter— you write and speak with clarity and can present complex matters crisply to founders, customers, and partners.
  • Hungry and driven— you bring high ambition, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and work hard.
  • Available to join quickly— immediate joiners are strongly preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to technology, SaaS, AI, or B2B enterprise contracts.
  • Familiarity with IP/patent processes in a deep-tech or product company.
  • Experience supporting fundraising or M&A due diligence.

Why Join Ripik.AI

  • Own the legal function of a category-defining industrial AI company from an early stage.
  • Work directly with founders and leadership on high-impact, high-visibility matters.
  • Operate at the intersection of law, technology, and business with a steep growth curve.
  • Be part of a venture-backed team building for India's largest manufacturers and beyond.

Ripik.AI is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive workplace.
